Lawd, what do you folks wanna hear?

Actual songs instead of a sampled beat from a 30 year old track, "enhanced" by simplistic new age-like synths andf some chants, followed by an interminable by-the-numbers "funk jam" that could just as easily have been tacked on to any other uptempo song.

I'll give you a clue: go listen to the soundboards from the 1980s that have been freed in the past couple of months. That guy is Prince. The guy on this rehearsal recording? A man who's stopped making an effort ages ago. Why should he, when everything he does gets hyped to no end anyway.

Sounds super funk ridden to me!!! It's a jam, not meant to be just about power synths?

Synths sound quite fat in the mix to me.

I keep forgetting that people on the Org replace the music they're hearing by shit they make up, to avoid admitting this is yet more of the same sub-par nonsense Prince has been peddling since 1996.

Wanna hear something amazing? Go watch The Weeknd's performace at Coachella. THAT is funk and hip-hop and soul and dance and rock all in one.

Wow, this is good!

btw, I went to DrF's twitter and there's a retweet of Russell Crowe saying "do yourself a favor" and see Prince 'cause he rocks the house down, or something. Is this real? Interesting. There ought to be more celebrity endorsements - get the word out.

Please bash me now, but I fully agree with Bart!

It's a nice effort, but the overall sound is way too "plastic" and even too disco for my likes.

The original DE pisses all over this.

Busy doin' something close to nothing

I feel the same way about this as I did about Extralovable 2012...

- it's cool that Prince throws something to his diehard fans in the middle of doing Hits tours. Even if it's a calculated move to make sure he's not alienating anyone in his fanbase, I don't really care.

- This jam is ok. A little bland, but personally I don't think the original versions of Extralovable and Dance Electric were A+ material to start with.

Maybe I just don't like jams, because this doesn't do it for me, for whatever reason. I like things like the end of Extralovable 2012... maybe on non-live recordings all the fat in an improvised live jam is trimmed and the musical ideas are better.

And yeah the keyboard sounds are weak.

If I saw this live I certainly wouldn't hate it, but I'd probably be thinking, 'Prince is doing Dance Electric?! That's fun!' instead of, 'This jam is AMAZING!'

Seriously, I have no idea how to do this shit. I may be young, but my brain is soooo old-school.

I wasn't pulling your leg

If you use Mozilla Firefox there's a free add-on called download-helper that lets you download anything you're watching or listening.

It's so easy to use even girls could do it mr.green

I agree about skipping the hits. I'm not paying for another "Hits" tour. I'll only go if there's a good, new album or if he's serving up a Bootlegs & B-Sides tour. I've been hoping for nearly a decade that someone would find a cure for Prince's funk and soul dementia.

This is funky. If you don't dig this, you're crazy. It's refreshing & if you read Dr. Funkenberry's post, you'll realize that this is just a jam. They'll play the full song with vocals in the shows. So relax & stop complaining.

anybody else hear 2 guitars? if this is really a live jam, i think somebody you people love to hate (Andy Allo) learned a few things in the past few months.

Does this mean that Andre C. Will be opening up for Prince for one or more shows in Australia?
That tour book photo is Prince's late April fools joke. lol
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I realize that some people like a well crafted song as opposed to an extended, musical ellaboration.

I, for just one, get into it listening for the challenges that the musicions might present to one another.

For me, when the groove is there, it's pure bliss to hear musical ideas mesh well at the hands of great players.

But, like I said, that's just how this kid feels about it!

Prost!

Yeah, but this is just instrumental jamming, it's just rehearsal and nothing new or exciting that we haven't heard before,in fact if you compare this stuff to other stuff, it's very bland.

Now, if i were going to the AU gig, I'd be hyper now, which is the sole intentions of this jam, so you all acting like he has the next new song released! lol
