I listened to it for a couple of times. It could be Andy Allo playing in the backgound but it could be another band member. If you listen carefully you can hear someone is playing the same thing over and over again. I won't be convinced Andy learned to play the guitar until I see her play on her own. I'm sure she's learnt how to play some basic parts since she's been working with Prince. It is clear he invested a lot of his time and his energy to coach her into becoming a better guitar player to impress you guys. He has plans with her he can only pull off if he finds a way to fool his fans into believing this chick is talented. I don't believe after a few months Andy is now a great guitar player. I think this is want Prince would like to have us all believe.

Surely you must believe that it would have to sound almost completely different to have come from 1986 - because rehearsals from that era would presumably bring great excitement, whereas this one barely seemed to merit a yawn.

To suggest that you would be "smart enough" to be able to tell the difference suggests that really this one, while certainly distinguishable (to a refined ear, aka "a few others") from that time, is not so dramatically different so as to make the idea implausible.

So did you yawn because it really did nothing for you, or did you yawn because your ear confirmed it was from 2012 Prince, so you reacted accordingly?

In any case, this semi-refined ear enjoyed it muchly (and continues to do so).

Ahhh, I dug that version, and I dig this. It's not 1984-6 sure, but we know that. I just wish we had the opportunity to listen to these tracks in good quality, to buy them either CD or DL - I don't want the library of Prince's output from the past decade to consist 50% of web and radio rips - it sucks.

Mixed opinions, because it's really not that great. It's very average but then again why expect more, he's been working for the last 30 years or so, and it cant be easy to be producing facinating music for hardcore fans. However he could improve and put more passion into his work, hopefully the aussies get to see a great show with other songs than the usual hits.
