Maaaan. Shut up, already! Damn! "Hit masterpiece" my ass. Dude. I own pretty close to every minute of music Prince has ever recorded that's been released officially or made it to a bootleg. There are multiple versions (edit and full-length) of Prince and the Revolution performing The Dance Electric that are UNRELEASED. The eleven and a half minute version is my single, ALL-TIME favorite unreleased Prince song. I'm not talking about Andre Cymone and mentioning it doesn't make you look smart, so just stop. Don't try and school me on Prince, dude. Go back to defending B2K and the Smith family.

I can't believe how divided this song has made the Org! It seems to be either love it or hate it. I'm on the I love it side. I've been waiting to hear Prince do something like this for a LONG time. Even though it's just a "rehearsal" of an old song it brings back all that I love about Prince's musicianship. It's a jam session that really JAMS! If he had played this in concert before it would have been off the chain. It's nice to hear it back.

I agree with you. I'm not on the "love" side like Danny, but I think it's good. To me, Prince never disappoints when it comes to musicianship. Like you, I'm not a huge fan of his background vocalists. I have certain ones that I like, but overall, I don't care for them. I think they all have a tendancy to oversing and overshadow Prince's vocals.

Not digging the Vegas show tune vibe of either one.

I agree with most of what you said.

I think prince still has the ability to come up with something really special(in the studio) but as it stands now, im not all that hopeful.

I think he does do interesting things with some of his songs live and i do like this version of The Dance Electric. The bummer to me is that he doesn't seem to challenge himself in the studio like he does in concert or when he's having a jam session. I think he needs to do some house cleaning.
