And well I ken, Digitalgardener!! lol Half way through listening & it's just so exciting to hear others who share the same love of Prince's gems that I do. Most folk roll their eyes when I start to speak of him cuz they're sick to the back teeth of me yattering on about him!

the sentiments at the end of the podcast are exactly like mine ..WHERE HAS THAT GUY GONE THAT WOULD PLAY THE MAJORITY OF HIS NEW MUSIC AND WAS DARING GONE?

SPOT ON!

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

This was awesome!

You guys were SO excited! Who would have ever thought a CD could bring so much JOY? lol

Billy Jack Bitch!!! That's my jam! I'm glad I wasn't the only one to feel that's one of his best FUNK jams of the 90's and his whole catalog! I mean that song just takes FUNK into a whole new level. Everything about that Jam is just beyond words, Like MC...Makes me want to listen to it just talking about it. Haha

The Gold Experience is just OUT of this world!

Shhh

Eye Hate U

Gold

Endorphinmachine

Dolphin

Now

We March

These are my essential Gold Experience tracks! smile I love them to death, Everything on this is just as good including: P Control, The Most Beautiful World In The World, and Shy I could go without. YET, these are yet awesome songs.

But this was just beautiful! You guys rock! headbang headbang I really think you guys should do this more often! I was waiting for it to come so fast, then BAM! Now I want to hear 'Lovesexy' Sign Of The Times, just many other albums! smile I'm waiting for it what's next! The best Podcast ever!

AND You all are hilarious!! Haha

When Captain mentions how Prince whenever he mentions something in a song, then he adds whatever he mentioned. "The rebirth of the dolphin in Gold" Hahaha.

Generally, all four of them were very positive and upbeat regarding the material released circa 1996-present. There's not much negativity and pessimism so you knew that when they started diving into the "classic" albums that they would be extremely amped for them.

Two and a half hours on a single album? Why can't every review be that long? lol

On the subject of music sounding dated, I probably mentioned this before but I really don't understand why so much venom is spewed at Emanciptaion for sounding dated but not 1999. 1999 is a fantastic album but it is arguably his most dated sounding album. The sound of that album absolutely screams early eighties.

Romeoblu

I think it's the most over rated album by the fans. Personally i'd put in the bottom half of his discography. I find it just too bombastic.

And I really think it's pushing it To call it Seminal.

My understanding of Seminal is an album that is groundbreaking, original and highly influential. If anything Gold is an album influenced by hip hop and 1970's funk and too a certain degree was ignored by the music press. I don't know anybody else that has a copy of this album.

I rate 3121,Lotusflow3r and 20ten higher.

Still loving the podcasts. Thanks for the time and effort you put in.

"Emancipation" sounded dated on the day of its release. That's the difference.

It's dated, but from an era in Prince's music that his fans have universally fond associations with. That's not always the case with the mid-90s.

So far so good. I've listened to the first 15 minutes or so, and need to get back to it. But I just want to share 1 thing:

P. Control would have been AMAZING if he called it "She's in Control."

Take the same operatic hook, beat, flow, and just change the "Pussy" to "She's in" in the hook and change the name Pussy to something like Jenny or Julie, and you have Prince's best rap song. Something that would DRAW PEOPLE TO THE DANCE FLOOR instead of clearing it like you mention in the review.

"Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

Nice one guy's , very enjoyable show once again smile sometime's I want 2 join in the chat tho! ha ha smile . I'm not a musician so always find some of the things u guy's point out very interesting . I followed/collected prince/mpls scene from when I was a kid ('86) but it was around the time of this album I started 2 lose track a bit so I was interested 2 hear more about this era. I didn't start 2 go online until v.late in the day ('09) so didn't know until much later what a fan favourite this was. It seemed 2 me at the time tho that it was the start of prince's decline in the general publics/media's conscousness - at least that's how it felt in the U.K. Gotta say I love 'shy' (very atmospheric & visual 2 me) & 'BJB' (GOT 2 dance 2 this! FONKAY! & captain i'm just like u in that I always think of the funky dance he did smile )the most on this album , got alot of love 4 'shhh' , 'I hate u' (esp ext vers) & 'dolphin' too. I pretty much like all of the album (but must say 'come' got/get's alot more play) but there's 2 track's I never play - 'tmbgitw' (never liked it , 2 commercial 4 me) & 'gold' (sorry but the word 'twee' comes 2 mind!). boxed I agree with u playa that 'days of wild' should of replaced 'we march' - I wore out my beautiful exp vhs out! That's got my fave days of wild (& shhh & now) vers on it. Who said p's best rap was p.control ?!! Ahh hell nooo! smile that would be irresistible bitch & days of wild!!! smile oh yeah, what happend 2 'one song' fella's? Xxx
"We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

I love both versions but the lyrics in the extended version are a bit funnier:

Ask me if I care, ask me if I care
It's so little it's like that feather in Forrest Gump
Floatin' through the air, floatin' through the air until the bus comes
I hate U - Can I get a transfer? lol

I love the way he says "air."

I also really enjoyed the one One Song episode and would like to hear more but what I really want is the Crystal Ball episode(s)!

Poor guy. Stroking it to Showgirls? Couldn't he have rented himself a proper pornographic film?

Still, she did look awfully good in that film. Um, I gotta go take care of something.
