ok, I've called the song "the perfect pop song" and consider it the very best pop song I've ever heard, in a league of it's own. When I play it live, no other song in my repertoire makes people stop what they are doing and just walk towards the stage, i'm not lying. Funny ain't it as I find Parade to be one of his most coherent. It's the one I'd grab if the house was on fire.

For me "Computer Blue" is the best song on that album, period. And while we are on it, my favorite scene in the movie is when he and the Revolution perform that song as well. Shirt off, sweaty, muscles glistening, even the choreography....loved it.

1 yes I agree, but I don't think they would have brought the creativity 2 writing songs that the Revolution brought, visually I think the Revolution 100% reflected Prince, I could have done without a few and replaced. But the Lovesexy band overall was a part of the previous Prince camp so they had my heart. After that next change in the line up I was visually unfocused.

2 parade is very focused and cohesive, it's definately telling a story

3 Computer Blue is the highlight of Prince's career. I just ran into a fan and we talked about Prince Prince and more Prince, but he wasn't up on the boots, and Computer Blue is his fav, I told him about the 14min uncut, and he went crazy, his eyes got watery, so I put together a cd of 2 live versions, album version and 3 studio cuts 11min 12min 14min and the Hallway poem

When Doves Cry is a masterpiece but I just can't listen 2 it a lot, Computer Blue(s) I can listen to all the time and I Would Die 4 U, the 1st Ave 1983 Purple Rain makes me weak

For You is a beautiful album, but far from being one of his best. I've recently come around to loving "Baby" and "My Love Is Forever", though..

His album covers are mostly hideous. I like 5 of them (Dirty Mind, Sign O The Times, The Rainbow Children, Lotusflow3r, MPLSound). I also like the rear cover to Parade (where he's lifting his shirt)..

I don't like any of Prince's movies, as I previously stated. Prince can't act.. the movie isn't funny or interesting.. it's only worthwhile for the music.

I fully agree about the movies. Only the most easily pleased individual with no idea about what makes a good movie would concede that any of Prince's movies have been anything more than a 5/10. Yes the music is excellent but a movie is not an album.

Talking of movies I watched the first half of Troll Hunter last night. Second half tonight. Funny as a parody. I did chuckle over the three billy goats on the bridge.

un-released Prince songs.

"Power Fantastic" and "Girl" have got to be the most overrated but pedestrian released songs ever.

His best album cover IMO is "Diamonds & Pearls".

that's ok, I respect opinions but just letting you know, there are many, many people who react and think of the song as very special. It's the one I pull out when I really need to get the audience. The only audiences that don't react are the ones who like to act aloof and cool so they really don't count. I tell you, it's like magic to play this song and watch people from all walks of life come up to the stage.

Plus, a lot of the outtakes weren't finished work, so there will be quality differences from the outtakes and released stuff overall.

But there are still a LOT of outtakes that even in their form are wonderful

Not that I hate Lovesexy, but I just don't get the hype...

"Diamonds & Pearls" is one the slightest songs Prince has ever recorded (even worse than "Cause & Effect" and "Rich Friends"... sorry) and I've NEVER listened to it the whole way through...

"The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale" is a very solid album in my book...

My favourite Prince song is "Solo"...

Also, I prefer the album version of Old Friends 4 Sale to the original...
