I think that in the next few days fan will be shocked because prince will play whole concert and anounce new revolution album and tour.opening acts will be family and the time.they had a recent meeting at Paisley you forgot?

Also, don't forget that John Lennon and Paul McCartney would have joined George Harrison for a partial Beatles reunion on Saturday Night Live one night if they hadn't been too stoned to leave John's apartment at the Dakota. That is not going to be an impediment for Prince. Just imagine him, sitting at home, not knowing whether they are getting all the songs exactly right... ha I remember Lorne offering 1000 dollars for them on the show lol...
but on the associated artists page they have a recent MPR interview with Bobby, Lisa, and Wendy and they allude that Prince wont show
BUT... as some have mentioned, he has met up with them the past few months so who knows, maybe they are planning something but keeping it secret so not to have the event plauged with a torrent of people...OR... Prince has already had his reunion but in 'reunion private' with just them at the treehouse, PP, and recent dinner with Bobby (which in a weird way I can understand this way of doing it).
either way I think even just speaking on it jinx's it becasue you know how tempermental Prince is...but something also tells me that something has changed in him the past year and he may want to publicly do something quiet with them onstage....maybe a new complaintive song ala Purple Rain to give to the fans?

I think the reality is that NO ONE knows for sure what he will do on Sunday, including Prince himself, because he could change his mind at the last minute one way or the other. I had tickets for the Dallas concert last year, and it was on until the very last minute, when it was off. It will be ironic (and awesome) if I come to a concert on Sunday where he's not supposed to show up, and he does. It is worth noting that if it had been announced well in advance that Prince was coming, all the tickets would have been gobbled up by scalpers and would now be selling for outlandish amounts of money on StubHub. What seems so weird to me is that this is basically the plot of the Purple Rain movie, in real life, with the same people, centered on the very place where the movie was set. Will he or won't he reconcile with the girls and embrace their contributions to his music? Life imitates art. lol..I know what you are gettign at/saying..but since its Friday..
He already has..what he neds ot do is re to embrace the controibutions of Mark Brown, Z, and Fank (no I didnt mispell Matts name lol). Yes he loved working with ladies, esp W&L, but the rest of the revolution went into battle just as they did. And their shit has never been heralded (except by a precious few) when ocmpared to Lisa and Wendy (Me and Billlay are the only ones who get it write by putting Lisa's name first since she was the pioneer and then came Wendy). The only real appreciation of Z was by 2uestlove who wrote this long ass post about what Bobby had to do with the drum programming while still keeping time with the live drums when in concert. I just think it's funny that all this is going down at First Avenue. To make the experience complete, we need Apollonia 6 to reunite tomorrow night at a club across the street for a performance of "Sex Shooter," with Morris Day gloating and Prince looking on jealously in the audience. Agreed. Damned if he does...damned if he doesn't. All this speculation, folks getting wound up then he will somehow be punishing those that follow his music. And remember just because the line up is the same doesn't mean that the magic would still be there and the folks would be hating on Prince for that. Prince was lightening in a bottle and The Revolution was a by-product. Ask those that saw him in the years preceding. I'm just saying. Besides no one knows how he has shown support for Bobby Z.

What they said was that they hope he shows but they don't think he will. That's the same thing that most people on here have been saying for months. I don't know why he would take that as some unforgiveable insult.
I think the biggest factor in favor of him showing up is his legendary perfectionism. Will he really be able to sit at home for the duration of the concert not knowing whether his songs are being played exactly they way he thinks they should? If he isn't there, he'll have at least one spy there to send him updates. Wouldn't that be GRAND?
I'm like many of you, we wish that this is possible, but the only thing we can do is 'Speculate'. It's cool that Prince is still alive and well, in 2012. This is the first NEWS we hear of him around and about. It's cool he was chilling, at Valentines Day with the usual family. (Larry Graham, Tina, Girlfriend at the time..lol) He is most likely with 'Andy Allo', who might not be his girlfriend. I'm sure he is teaching 'TRUTH' to her, and possibly one day she'll become a 'Jehovah's Witness' preferably before he promotes her new album along with him. THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT THOUGH....
I sure hope he comes and do a surprise number/encore at the end. PURPLE RAIN! That would be fantastic as we all know, we can see the true love and respect he has for Bobby. Bobby feels it, and expresses genuine love and taste for Prince as he was there for him in a hard time. That's beautiful!
Prince seems to do something on the behalf of Bobby, and the fact that so many have been falling off lately. It would be dire and sadden, if he missed the opportunity to come and JAM with the Revolution again. At least once and for all. We don't know? What is there to expect? We are talking about Prince here! You never really know with him! That's a ' ' thing most of the time, and a ' ' thing sometimes..lol
JUST Surrender Your Expectation! It's Button Therapy, Baby!

It's more about them taking credit as usual. In the few minutes the interview lasted they managed to suggest that Lisa and Prince were equal partners in the creation of the first Time album, that their input in the mid 80's was so huge that prince felt left out or lost, that Prince relied upon them more than anyone or anything else, that firing them was a step back for Prince.
This could of course all be true. But I don't think Prince will appreciate this perspective [Edited 2/17/12 10:41am] The wooh is on the one!

Yeah, but if someone believes you were that valuable to their career, then they wouldn't fire you. Anyway, that's another story. But with all this speculation from some fans with hoping Prince shows up, can make one wonder if some of the fans going, are actually going for the purpose of seeing the former Revolution members perform or just going, because they think Prince may show up.
Anyway, have fun for those going. [Edited 2/17/12 10:38am]

I think either way it's a good thing, because the concert is for a good cause. I am going to see the former Revolution members perform, but I'd like to see Prince show up, even if all he does is give Bobby a hug and wave to the crowd at the end of the show. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

I mean EXACTLY what I said...just because Bobby Z is feeling it doesn't mean the the MAGIC that was The Revolution which Prince rehearsed the hell out of decades ago would gel onstage after all that has gone down in the years since.
Other bands that broke-up and got back together have been mentioned in reference but the comparisons aren't necessarily fair. Take The Police- it was Stewart's band and yeah Sting was known to be quite ego-centric but the smartest move he could have made at the point in his solo career when he was playing a lute and hiding behind that unsexy beard was to reunite the rock band that was #1 when he walked away. His solo career had gotten stale and he needed the infusion. Besides those guys were like brothers and the bond developed by touring the US in a van binds you in a way that nothing else can for a band as did the knock-down-drag-out fights they had...I know this because Sting...yeah that one told me himself during "The Blue Turtles Tour".
So as cool as it would be to see The Revolution take to the stage in total, I for one (and I say this as my best friends, brother and ex-husband are professional musicians) don't think that all that has gone on in the years since would just evaporate, let them CONNECT and PLAY! And that would be very sad indeed. So excuse me while they live in my memory in all their GLORY and I don't get bent out of shape if they don't take to the stage together. As much as I dug The Revolution, I was one of those hoping for reunion with Dez and Andre and them playing small clubs and me getting to hang out during soundcheck again... Finally gave that up sometime during the MnM-NPG years...LOL
And I repeat... Besides no one knows how he has shown support for Bobby Z...because there have been posts about Prince needing to show up as that was his way to show support for Bobby. I am willing to bet that the support for Bobby that Prince has shown has not been revealed in its entirety and it does not have to be in a way that someone other than the 2 old friends decide.

Here are some quotes from the interview:
“The first Time album was just Lisa and him, [Then Morris would come in and do his vocal]” “The only thing he could think of doing was getting rid of the thing he was relying on the most which was me and Lisa” “He sent us skeletons of songs and Wendy and I would make the track. I think he just really felt “where am I? What am I doing? I need to regroup”” “He just thought “look I can't ask you guys to take a step back now””
I don’t think my interpretation is far-fetched at all. The wooh is on the one!

It sounded to me like it was overall a positive interview. They were reminiscing about how close friends they used to be with him. I thought their explanation of how they got fired was pretty graceful--he just needed to move on to different things. It didn't sound like they were trying to spite him. Sure, they've known him for a long time, but he knows them too.
I think if Prince were really upset by anything W&L said, there would be an announcment on Dr. Funkenberry today about how Prince is kicking off his "Welcome to Australia" tour on Sunday night and unfortunately will have to miss the Revolution concert due to his being on the other side of the world.
