Dream scenario :

Prince comes on in his Purple Rain gear - shiny purple jacket, round glasses, curly hair do et all.

The crowd goes wild, screaming, appaluse , applause!!!!!

Then he rips of his 80's gear, glasses and......pulls off his well designed curly wig..then says to the crowd:

"What y'all doing! This ain't 1984!"

Cue first song.

I hope he does, it would be good for him... but if he doesn't so what...?

It's not really any of our business... it's just a few old friends getting together to have a laugh because they've been reminded of their mortality... they just happen to be The Revolution!

fair play to them all and good luck to Bobby, my fiancé's a cardiac rehab nurse if he needs some special treatment he can give me a call... I'll rent her expertise out (medically!) for a few old anecdotes! razz

Due to the fact I cannot go to this show, Prince will probably be there. It will also feature a special guest apparence by David Bowie, who will be handing out talking cats to everyone in attendance.

If I could attend, The Revolution would cancel, leaving Tony M to try his best to make a show out of his now rusty rapping skills and a kazoo.

I wish he would that would be AWESOME!! But you know Prince wont do it. He will never do anything that his fans would like. Its too normal. He always has to do whatever will push us away as a challenge to see how many of us stay fans. Just backwards

Agreed.

May not be 'normally' his style, but every human does it. And Prince does it all the time.

Just 1 example: Coachella festival, Prince has Sheila E & (the Time)Morris Day & Jerome 'open up' 4 him, He says "this is how the Purple Rain tour was supposed to be"

ok I'll throw in 2 more. His LotusFlow3r website, the old tv on the bottom left corner with scenes and messages about 1986, and how it was.

3rd: the photos he had taken for the 20Ten Welcome 2 America tour book with him standing in front of his Controversy album and the one with him standing in front of the If I Was Your Girlfriend single photo, and the photo he took standing in front of the Parade photos of Bobby Z & Wendy Melvoin.

That's called looking back. And nothing wrong with it.

Not to mention is regular referal of 'music back in the day' and playing 'old soul songs' during this shows and aftershows...

I could go on and on

I think it is a bit of our business, I think it's totally about fandom and appreciation for their connection and the connection with fans. It's obvious they've reached out 2 Prince and Prince has reached back, him having a meeting with Lisa & Wendy a few months back, Prince having wanted Bobby Z to play some shows with him

If it was just about friends they could have went to someones home studio and had a laugh and played some songs;-)

what would be lovely is 2 have some quality behind the scenes photos taken, live photos taken, band posing (with Prince) taken and a CD/DVD set put togther of the show with photos later sold for a particular health awareness fav of Bobby's

I wonder if they'll play "Rock 'N' Roll Is Alive (And It Lives In Minneapolis)?" Seems like that song would be very appropriate for this event.

My gut feeling is that he will not show and this is his very public way of trying not to come across as an aloof asshole. Pray I am wrong and that he is going to be human and 'normal' for once!

I got the impression from the Jon Bream interview that he's gonna show. For the encore or something like that, not the whole show.

If he is going to be in Minneapolis on Sunday night, I just find it hard to imagine that he would sit at home wondering how the concert is going. At the least, he'll want to sneak in the back in disguise and check it out. Of course he could have his publicist announce on Monday that he unfortunately couldn't come because he came down with a bad case of the boogie woogie flu, or something.

I would add that if he does come for the encore it's hard to imagine him just playing for one song, even if that's the current plan. He either won't come at all, or if he does, he'll want to keep it going until 3 a.m. and work in some of Sly Stone's greatest hits. But, maybe I'm wrong.

Why not? They should officially induct him and Andy Allo as members of the Revolution for the encore Sunday night, after the Revolution is finished with the main set. Problem solved.

Man, these tropubled bands all reunited:

STP, before Weiland goes off on another bender

The Police got their shit together , Sting finally putting his ego in check

Hell froze over for The Eagles to realize they were being idiots

the vitriol evaporated enough for Waters and Gilmour to give Pink Floyd one last hurrah

and the grandaddy(s) of them all:

Plant put his stubborn reserve away to reunite with Page/JPJ for the heralded Led Zep and the torrid relations between Roth and the Van Halens for what is the true wtf how'd it happen reunion of Van Halen came to fruition (because that dynamic of who DLR antics of pushing his vision and personality with Ed's artistic ego seemed like this was the reunion that would never happen).

P and Them need to stop this holdout lol..because of those seminal rock bands can do it so can they.
