Dude, if you hear Prince in that, then bless you. Where do you live that they played that on the radio? That is obviously a home recording.

Prince was THE influence during the 83-85 era

after that, the hard-dance sound of Janet's Control was established, and the rules changed

by the early-90s Prince wasn't an influence anymore, at least until the mid-90s modern R&B explosion, and you can say that Prince has influenced ANY modern-dance/modern-R&B artist (and their producers!) of the 00s decade, whether they would admit it or not...Beyoncé, Maroon 5, BEP, Neptunes, GaGa, Barkley, Chromeo, MGMT, etc
