It is. I like it, but I prefer the originial though.

I like the new version but the old version is better and funkier. I hadn't heard any version until a few days ago so there was no risk of a bias. On repeat listens it becomes obvious within less than 15 seconds that the beat of the old version is funkier, it sucks me in right away.

At four minutes the new version has moved into low gear and it feels like Prince wastes a minute towards the end with nothing interesting. The old version that I've heard is close to eight minutes long and there are several cool things happening after four minutes. Starting with the feather light instrumental sounds after he sings "would anyone care to get naked?", and the wonderful guitar work which starts after five minutes.

I like them equally. But I seem to be in the minority of having never been too impressed with the original outtake version.

The original is a classic unreleased track, but I can see why it was shelved - and I don't mean the rape stuff - there's no way it's up to par with the material on 1999 or Purple Rain.

We often deify the 80-88 out-takes, but many of them were unreleased for a reason - not that they're bad, but they either don't fit, or aren't of the same standard as the albums of the era they're from.

I sometimes feel that some of these outtakes that are considered "classic unreleased tracks" are only seen as such because they've been around since the dawn of Prince bootlegs.

I like the song, in both versions, but neither is really all that special to me. They're both a mess, really. A nice mess that I like listening to, but not that special in their own right(s).

Like them both, but sorry the original will always hold a place in my heart. I guess because it is raw and not sanitized through his new thought process.

i must be one of the very few whom never dug extraloveable that much

theres a small demographic(and i ws probably one of them when i was 17)whom will always pretend that the unreleased stuff is WAY better thatn the official stuff

but in reality its not save for a few unbelievable songs recorded between 85 and 86

I agrfee, I have both and i listen to the 2011 version. Loves it!! And I agree it probably would do well on the charts if it was promoted, but oh well. I bought mine, lol

I agree it's a tough call. There are certain elements I prefer in both versions.

i think my only gripe with this song is the that i feel like shes trying to sound like nicki minaj, which is a pretty big turn off

Yeah I do agree the beat on the old version is better, he should have kept that in the new version. I just love heavily processed Linndrum beats!

Agreed on the Vault myth, from what I've heard there are only a few tunes that are really worth releasing. SOme people make too much out of the vault tracks IMO.

Agreed. I don't particularly understand how Prince bashes mainstream music on one hand, all while incorporating certain elements of the mainstream in his musical output. Then again, there are lots of things I don't understand about Prince.

Strange how some fans act like the new version negates the very existence of the old one. Perfectly possible to love both.

I like them both, i treat them as completely different songs (which they are but the title), i'm not going to compare them as they are totally different.

I Wonder if he'll remake Moonbeam Levels with a Future Soul Song feel, that might be quite good.

I don't think that they are not worth releasing, but like NouveauDance said, they might not have fit on the current album in process. Maybe some were just Prince/Prince & the band making a song to work out on.

Extralovable would have easily been a dance hit(the original) I could also have easily seen it as a B side for 1999. I don't think the 'message' works with the rest of the album, like Irresistable Bitch... but they both work as a behind the scene of 1999 songs.

Tick Tick Bang the original kills the GB release, slays it. And could have easily fit on Dirty Mind or Controversy

Old Friends 4 Sale the original wipes out the later year remix. It doesn't fit on the Parade released configuration, the 1st configuration it does. There are other unreleased songs from the time that would work as a seperate album.

I think a lot of them are really good songs but either he just had to many considerations or the 'message' didn't work with the configuration. I've only heard 1 or 2 that I could easily pass over.

Most of the songs from 1982-1986 unreleased were pretty good songs. a lot of pre1982 songs were a lot of ballad type songs
