Songs nobody mentions anymore

in the 90's fans were hyped abut songs like I Am a D.J. ,Work that Fat,Mad...

Nowdays nobody mentions those songs here on org.

What songs are the least discussed here on org?

I rediscovered "A Million Days" recently. I love that song. I recall a lot of people felt the same way when it came out, but I don't hear it mentioned that often anymore. The same goes for "Boom" and "$". Those tracks were all the rage at one time. They're still favorites of mine though.

There are literally tons of good songs that get overlooked from the 90's. People generally lump all the stuff from back then as plastic, overproduced or bad forays into hip-hop (and there's no shortage of all of the above), but there's also some really great songs from that decade.

Completely agree with you that there are tons of great songs that certainly do get overlooked... however, looking back, I wish Prince was still on a record label...

Albums like 20ten are neat but the overall packaging of the record takes so much away from the overall vibe of the project.

Take for instance the Come record - the images, fonts, colours, etc all helped communicate the emotions of the music. Great great record - loved it from day one.

And the digression ends here.

Sleep Around. I remember this song actually got played on Oprah and at the live shows. Haven't heard anyone mention it lately.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Only if he put Lil Wayne on it. lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

First of all I'm one of those people who thinks every song Prince has played could be a hit if it were released guitar woot!

And second, I guess it depends which area of society one relates to or is aware of at any given time when determining who is in touch. I was thinking of the O c cupy movement and considering the sentiment expressed in When Will We Be Paid. I think this feeling is exactly what brought the protesters together. Well, it was at least one of the feelings that gave rise to the movement. imo

It's always cool to hear sound effects that I've heard in Prince songs elsewhere. I hear the scream from "We March" everywhere. I even recognized the street noise from "Lady Cab Driver" in Carmen Jones.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that recognises that scream sound everywhere. It's even on a Busta Rhymes track, Always makes me think of We March though

I remember hearing those street noises in "The Sting"...listen for it, they are looped throughout...exactly like what you hear in 1999.

Cool. You mean the Sting with Newman and Redford? I've only seen bits and pieces of it, but I'll definitely have to check it out.
