PRINCE & JAMIE LEWIS: Comeback of the Purple Superstar at the Gay Bar

For a very long time Prince was absolutely No Go in the Gay community. Now he powerfull strikes back, due to the release of the new DANCE 4 ME outfits via Gay Icon Jamie Lewis's label Purple Music.

Jamie Lewis, most famous for his legendary DARKROOM Remixe/Dubs is well known on any Gay-Dancefloor, which did not hurt to break him in here and choosing a song in his gender switching vocal style either.

Cant help, but I think that Prince, in particular, is trying to win back his Gay audience herewith. But to make this a full accepted return I would suggest him to give a few other tracks to prominent DJ's like Green Velvet and Eric D Clark, they could do, f.e., 'I Wanna Melt With U' or 'Sex Shooter' for him, smile ... So, come on Poppet, let's go, testify that you are ready for us in 2012. Happy New Year!

I'm gay. I'm a Prince fan. I like to dance.

These remixes are straight up bullshit.

to be honest, in recent years I always felt a bit uncomfortable supporting him due to his religious believes which I accept but I do not agree. A lot of my friends, Gay or Hetero, turned away from him because of the things he said and I cant blame them for that. Besides, he's never done anything for the Gay communities in particular, at least not to my knowledge. F.e., look at Lada Gaga or Madonna and what they do .... So, I think giving Dance 4 Me to a well known Gay DJ to Remix and Distribute is a step in the right direction and it gives me hope that he's not as prejudiced as I feared.

Never knew he 'lost' his gay audience or was against. News to me

Just thought it would be one of those topics that weren't mentioned but was neutral for on his behalf

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

it really wasn't a big deal in the gay community -- i.e., on social networking sites, the blogosphere, etc.

why? because most gays haven't given a shit about Prince in 20 years, nevermind 2008 or whenever it was he said that. he wasn't being played in gay clubs long before he had a chance to piss them off.

besides that, he did seem genuinely regretful a year or so later when he was asked about it in another interview.

that's not funny, this is sad! If you belong to a minority group you have to fight your whole life to get respected and become blessed with the same civil rights others have naturally, no matter where you live ... I had this crush for a French Hip-Hop band and visited their concerts regulary until they once stated that they dont like gay people and dont want them at their concerts ... okay, that's it, tell me one reason why I should still should support them if I am not welcome? It's the same with Prince or any other Artist that create negative feedback, more or less bad ... I find it uncomfortable and it brings us no closer to a more fair society.

He probably "tolerates" gay people. His JW beliefs would prevent his accepting gays.I love his music;however,if he ever starts making homophobic remarks, that we know for a fact,I will destroy each Prince item I own.Homophobes are as bad as racist. Society just likes them a little better.
