No, that's what you imagine. The actual song bears no resemblance to any of those.

Happy that he updated it reworking his backcatalog is a great idea!! ( will admit that I prefer and love the original as it has tons more energy)

I really like this version.. Played it on repeat 5 times, and I want to put on again. Not often that happens nowadays! It's not excactly like the original, this is definately funky..

The groove - rhythm guitar, synth, percussion, synth-bass...I think it sounds great. If it was a new song, I'd love it, if only for the nostalgia factor but also cuz it's funky. But as soon as he starts singing the Extraloveable lyrics it becomes shitty. It sounds awkwardly staccato. Maybe because it's too slow. "MAKE-A-MAN-Y-BRU-THA-MIGHT-Y prouuuud..."

The rap is appalling. Bugaboo? Some of the words and the Eve-style delivery made me feel like I was in the late 90s/early 00's again.

I like both versions!

No you won't. Prince can't play the States without fear of getting his check ganked so I doubt he will be coming around my way anytime soon.

In fairness to the Purple Yoda, he can't legally release the original or any studio version reasonably close to the original without WB's participation.

I didnt realize he couldn't do anything with the orignal due to WB, but he didnt have to do this. I think its just an answer to all that bruhuha about the one group who remade it and was posted on youtube.

After several listens it's growing on me. I think the fact we have the older version takes away from the song. Would of been interesting if we never heard the original what out take on the new vrsion would be. It's an average track but not in the bad category.

2) Everything recorded under his WB contract, unreleased or otherwise requires their permission to release. Crystall Ball would have required their permission to release. Apparantly he got it. But back then the thought was that Prince would return to the label. Now that WB is possibly losing rights to some albums, I doubt they would freely give him license to release anything.

At the end of the day, new music is always good news. But this is shockingly bad. I think he pissed on the original just as a way of messing with us.

Yet another in a long line of BAD decsions made. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING was wrong with the original. Matter of fact, it was perfect. Should have been realeased untouched and unaltered.
