didn't doc funkenberrie report a while ago that prince cut a 25 minute live

version of this song recently?

full band mode on this one, that would be interesting. stick that on the flip

side and i'm snatching up a copy.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

From what I heard honestly the new version sucks as compared to the old one. What makes me mad is that he could have put out the original and it would have been as good as anything out today. And don't get me started on how he changed the lyrics.......OMG! How can you take out "Baby u can turn my momma on, she's just as straight, just as straight as straight can b!" Now that line.....pure genius!

if he released the original the time he made it it would have been an immediate hit.

my little sister heard it for the first time today and preferd the original to the new one instantly. Within 10 seconds of hearing that beat she was dancing.

i wonder why he hid it. He could of taken the ending out. And what's wrong with original lyrics? Prince give up the keep it clean act. rolleyes You know you're dying to say "masturbating with a magazine" giggle

If there's one song that didn't ever need bongos, it's Extraloveable.

the recycled songs that seem to be in there (sticky like glue, love etc)

I only caught the snare sample that's also used in Love.

I imagine Prince reading this and thinking, 'what, I use the linn drum machine for decades and nobody cares, but now people complain about a different snare sample being used more than once?'

But I agree with you! To my ears, somehow making a million songs with the linndrum is ok, while using a better sample of a snare hit can get tired even within the span of one song. It's interesting to think about why that might be.

lol

I can imagine "She's Always in My Hair" receiving the same treatment. Erase the guitar lick. Slow it down. Make it poppy, add a rap interlude and add bongos.

I listened to both versions today and I must say that I am feeling the new version. I like Andy's rap flow (some lyrics r cheesy) but overall I think they did a great job on this. Loves It!!!!!!

no, I am afraid you are wrong, my guess is Prince likes this new version himself,

and I'm also afraid that he has lost his feeling completely, his feeling about what is cool and good and what is well "absolutely not so good".....

This new version sucks - after 4 or 5 listenings, I skip this track. That rap portion is an insult, isn't it?

This track now sounds like an outtake from Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic.

imo: Nothing on this new version is good, unique like the fantastic original.

damn....... I really wish it wasn't so, but after a lot of weak tracks like Hot Summer, Purple & Gold, Cause & Effect and now this re-make.... has Prince lost his feeling completely?

.

I've never heard the original, but I like what I'm hearing so far, until I hear the full version.

It has that Roger & Zapp feel, and I hear a little bit of Sly & The Family Stone's 'Family Affair' a tthe beginning, and a twist of George Clinton's "Atomic Dog"

You know what would be funny? If someone hacked ITunes and replaced the new version w/ the vault version. lol Prince would catch on 2 years later & be angry. lol But the music community would not raise a ruckus. lol

Hilarious biggrin biggrin biggrin

It's not quite that bad, but it's definitely not good. The new FULL VERSION is way better than the new sample. There's some funk, especially in that outro. But the energy, drive & intensity of the original are lost. The understated "whoo! whoo!" in the middle is not as good as the original. And the new SECOND VERSE SUCKS!

It's more playful & sexy than a lot of recent of his stuff. The first verse, rap, last verse, and outro are all pretty good. cool

Overall, it took an A+ song and turned it into a B-. confused

Starts off kinda cool- but then it's that weak imitation of his own keyboard style I hate that he does. Somehow he never gets that depth from back in the day he had. It is at least fun. the rap. why? intro and outro are best parts.
