I have grown to like it a lot more since hearing the live version on ONAL. Actually the same holds true for Other Side of the Pillow. I didn't like it on The Truth that much but live it really blossoms. | |

It's a great vocal. At first I thought it was a bit sparse and boring. But once you appreciate the contours of the vocal it's a pleasure, and the horn section is a treat. | |

I love "Mellow", but then I love TRC!
I kinda got my best mate into Prince through TRC and this track is actually his favourite on there, and he likes the other tracks too. "Mellow" is beautifully played, sexy, and tasty. | |

I love Mellow, but the "bring yourself to joy...wet circles around the toy" bit makes me cringe and this is just another Prince track that I can't play to my parents (or anyone else older than 40) 
I can even put up with the namechecking (Macy and Common) to stay hip bit. | |
