1725topp said: Hey guys, my apologizes for steering the conversation from Prince v. O7ven. So, I'll end with I like "Cadillac" and can't wait to hear the rest of the album. The Time is not just my favorite Prince project; they are one of my favorite bands, having seen them more times than I can count. Whether it is real or calculated drama, I still like the way that The Time plays yin to Prince's yang or funk foil to his metaphysical expressionism. Thank you for your posts...nice read...beautifully written. :

I picked up the Condensate DVD/CD today and have to say I was pleasantly surprised, it is far better than I expected.
While I found the title song and Trendin okay, I absolutely Role Play and I also really enjoyed Hey Yo & Sick.
I can't wait to see them in concert, last time I saw Morris and some of the Time members was a free New Years Eve show a few years ago in a nearby casino. I would gladly pay to see O7. "Never let nasty stalkers disrespect you. They start shit, you finish it. Go down to their level, that's the only way they'll understand. You have to handle things yourself."

Nice CD, reminds me of Pandemonium minus Prince. I wouldn't say it's better Planet Earth, 3121, MPLsound or 20Ten. P has nothing 2 worry 'bout!!! There is sumthin really familiar about Trendin', it reminds me of another song by a younger artist like Britney or someone like that. Still too early for me to love it but I do like . Out of all Morris' cds The Time, What Time Is It, Ice Cream Castles, Color of Success, Day Dreaming & Pandemonium (never hear Guarenteed) it's ranking under Pandemonium & above Day Dreaming, with Pandemonium ranking under the rest!

I think it kills those cds and im really digging the album theres not one song on it i hate.

Sorry but nobody gives a shit about O7's releases or Prince's releases nowadays apart from us, a small community of fans. I don't think Prince has much respect for people who are stuck in the past. Clearly, he doesn't give a shit.

Some old Minneapolis sound with 0 improvement. And always the same lyrics about money, showing off, fancy cars, girls and blablabla. ZZZZzzzzzz

Honestly... I mean I like Morris and the boys but how come you guys like this tacky piece of shit coming right from the eighties that is Trending? Even the arrangements are ridiculous (God... the key, meh).

What decade are you living in ? They don't tell you what the songs are anymore..
You are lucky if they announce 1 in 10 songs on the radio these days ... Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Just listened to trendin, it's ok but the synth sounded a lot like a shite 90's dance song I used to dance to at school discos, unfortunately I can't remember the name of it. Any song off any of prince's recent albums pee all over it IMO.

Like the best Time singles from the past, this song is fun, catchy, funky and has alot of attitude. The chorus/hook is addictive.

These guys have a pimp/playa image. What are they supposed to sing about.....politics and war? That's not what they're about.

If P released such a tacky tune with horrid heavy eightish keys and such a poor chorus (and btw he has done it himself a few times! ), you'd be all over him and I'd be as well. This is simply some awful radio friendly crap. Sorry if I dig more sophisticated music than you do apparently . [Edited 10/26/11 6:15am]

If you're still amused with the mirror act, with the same dance steps they've been doing for 30 years, with the same musical cliches and the same lyrics about fancy cars, money and women who are supposed not to resist them, fair enough. Sorry for you mate but I've grown up since PR.

They're doing exactly what I cannot stand in some recent Prince outputs. Why would I be more indulgent with them than I'm with Prince? I like new Prince stuff like LotusFlow3r and I hate it when Prince desperately tries to copy his old Minneapolis sound stuff.

I suppose you would prefer that they become JWs,stop cussing, and do "clean" songs instead? Let's call up Larry Graham, maybe he could convince them to join the cult?
It's great that you have "grown up" but being grown up shouldn't mean that you lose your sense of fun.

My idea of fun is not someone repeating the same joke over and over again. When P does it, I yawn. Same goes for The O7. I saw The Time 5 times live and I've seen the same show everytime (my fav moments being Jungle Love and the Bird everytime though! God, I love these tunes).

i'm curious about these 14 songs man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Well written, well put. Bravo. There is hope for the Org after all. I really like your mention of Prince's double and triple metaphors. "He's a musician's musician..."

prince is stuck in the past too and if u don't think that then i recommend u listen 2 compassion from 20ten and how he has been using the linn drum without any feeling in it anymore. it's like OH LOOK I'M USING THE LINN DRUM AGAIN without using live drumming. yes the linn drum is in the song strawberry lake but there are LAYERS all on that song that makes it head bobbing. when has a prince album made u smile all the way through lately? man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

i love the majority of ur list of songs but it's interesting not one song was from 20ten man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

and? | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
and it speaks directly 2 what i've been saying about how it's fair 2 compare 20ten to condensate and the difference between them both. the suggestion is that in 21 years that prince has made greater and better songs than the O7 has done on condensate, but it's a list of songs from 20 years. and also that in the list of songs provided, there were several from one album but just one or two tracks from other albums.
i'm not disputing that the list listed is not a banging song list, but i'm sure there are others that would rip 2 shreds that list saying it's all garbage man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

LMAO! Ya know?! | |

Yeah, and that's the album (along with "MPLSound") that was designed to sound like he did back in the day, like people are saying O7ven are sounding like. The best songs on "Condensate" kill at least a third of this list anyway. Prince has just spread himself waaaay too thin over the years, releasing an album almost every year. A couple of cool songs on each, and the rest range from filler to God-awful! He almost seems to think that everything he records should get a full release. Nopers.

and if i really wanted 2 i could nitpick even more about how that list didn't contain NOTHING from the NPGMC era of tracks and the latest goldminds of rich friends, purple and gold aren't on this list either? man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
