As has Last Heart for me.

I always felt those 2 songs were 'related' in some way before they popped up on Crystal Ball and not just because of the vocal style

Temptation. It's one of the funkiest songs he's ever written and I love it! Yes, even the God outro. Has always given me chills. "Purplelectricity whenever our bodies touch, oh baby baby love me with your Midas touch ! "

Most forgotten song I think

1. Anything off Chaos and Disorder LIKE Zannalee and I rock therefore I am

2. So Blue, just sounds so forgettable and the lesser ballads off "Prince"

3. Some of the garbage on Diamonds and Pearls like Willing and Able, but not Jug head as its always discussed as a worst ever song. Horny Pony is forgettable too, even though it was on 2 B sides

4. Any album track that now sounds dated (Take your pick), and is missing instantly explicit, memorable or coarse lyrics,

Not Good Love, thats a great song, any hardcore fan should have it, on some permutation. With lyrics like "Technicolor junkie in a funky square" how can it be forgotten?

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Gotta Stop Messin About is an absolute lost gem! Love how raw it sounds, the sparseness and kinda new wave/punk edge it has Find myself listening to it lots and wondering why on earth it was not included on Dirty Mind?!? It could easily have been a single! Instead it was pretty much thrown away as a b-side. Why Prince why???

nod I secretly dream of making an 80's teen comedy with this song playing over the opening credits.

One of my absolute favs that almost NEVER gets recognition (and when it does, it's not very popular) is 'Solo'. Seriously, this song to me is one of the most unique tracks ever recorded by Prince , he's never done ANYTHING ELSE like, before or since.

I think you're confusing forgettable with forgotten. Most of the songs you've mentioned you consider forgettable, but the author of this thread meant a song that you liked that most people either don't discuss or don't listen to anymore.

And...Horny Pony...forgettable? Not to me. I love the whole D&P era including Willing and Able, Strollin, Money Don't Matter, Live4Love, etc. Not to mention the Gold Ni**a CD which had a similar sound and theme.

Same here!!

Great era, I don´t understand how a Prince fan can´t love Gett Off, Cream,

Money don´t matter..some of his best songs! Same 4 those U mentioned and I even love Push

and Daddy Pop.

Oh Daddy.. lol

Groovy rock like on The Gold Experience, but without the 'overproduction'.

My god, a lot of songs mentioned above should really STAY forgotten.

But what about Hide The Bone, arguably his best song of the 90's, and one of his best period!!!!!

I agree Hide the Bone is very underrated or at least not often mentioned. That song could have replaced one of the IMO lesser songs on The Gold Experience, like Now, We March or 319.

But his best song of the nineties....?

Sure, what other others songs come close? (And I place the Graffiti Bridge album in the 80's - that's when all the songs, except Thieves I believe, were recorded)

I really like Now, but of course it's more of a groove/jam than a song.

Just as good or better then Hide the bone?:

Still would stand all time, Willing and able, Sexy MF, Dark, Endorphinmachine, Dolphin, 5 Women, I like it there.. to name a few...

And what about:

Comeback, Calhoun Square, I love you but I don't trust you anymore, The Morning Papers, Gold and The Exodus has begun?

I agree that Hide the Bone is a great funk-rock track, but to say its his best song from the nineties goes to far. Prince has released handfulls of great songs (and not so great albums) during the nineties.

Well, those are all great songs (except I Love You... sorry - and Dark is good in its Crystal Ball incarnation), but I still say... don't stop the groove, hide the bone!

But hey, at least we're almost on the same page as far as great songs go!

I was just listening to The Big Pump this morning on my way to work. That was definitely not a high point for either George or Prince. I do like several other songs on that cd though, Get Satisfied, Rhythm and Rhyme, Dis Beat Disrupts among them. Prince isn't credited in any of those three, but Dis Beat Disrupts has Housequake allusions all throughout, and you can hear his back up vocals pretty clearly.

"So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."
