YES! That song is rarely mentioned and I think it's a masterpiece. The way he says "star" makes me melt..And I'm a straight male!

Right. I was going to nominate the same song, but I can't remember it either. It's the one where Prince sings and plays the guitar. Or was it a piano?

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Love that one!

That was when he was a genius. Better than Dylan, for my generation.

What the FUCK happened? Why did it end. sad He's still the best performer of pop music on the planet.

I guess us 80's Prince fanatics thought, this guy is like a superhero, he'll surprise us forever. An Elvis, Brown, Beatles, MJ, Stevie, Jimi, EW&F, Parliament, Sly, Bolan, and Curtis, all rolled into one.

:-(

Fams - it was the innovation, and excitement of new sounds, mixed with the most breathtaking live performer of all time, that we mourn the loss of. You have one out of the three, and thats good enough. Don't hate on us for being sad sometimes. x

Two words: Alphabet Street. A brilliantly funky song that never seems to get mentioned or praised! One of Prince's funkiest imho.

I wonder .... oh i love this song

Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

U said it! Prince was to the 80s what Dylan was to the 60s.
I see your point. I love them both. But I yet have to hear a new Prince album that's on the same level as Modern Times or Together through life.

Get Blue and Allegiance too.

But Allegiance? Where's that from?...I've googled the lyrics and it still don't ring a bell

This song is so good, I don't let it play unless I can sit down and really listen to it.

Songs that are still being played live don't count as "forgotten" songs.

Honestly, I think that "It's Gonna Be Lonely", "Crazy U", and "My Love is Forever" are all great songs that haven't been talked about...at least since I've been a member. biggrin

Gotta Stop Messin About is an absolute lost gem!

Love how raw it sounds, the sparseness and kinda new wave/punk edge it has

Find myself listening to it lots and wondering why on earth it was not included on Dirty Mind?!? It could easily have been a single! Instead it was pretty much thrown away as a b-side. Why Prince why???

This is a Prince fan site. On here, there's no such thing as a 'forgotten song'.
