what do u think is the best album from lotusflow3r? MPLS Sound or Lotusflow3r?

i think that both are EXTREMELY diferent and cant quite be compared because both conform to diferent kinds of tastes such as rock and blues and jazz on lotusflow3r, and pop and dance on MPLS Sound. its entirely diffrent from his other albums i personally dig lotusflow3r because i like the bluesy rock feel and i just like it but if i wanna dance i put in some MPLS SOUND cuz the grooves are nice and i dig how he brought back some old school using the camille voice u know/ that he used frequently back in the day and also he has my favorite rendition of crimson and clover i love how he uses the delay pedal effect and flanger effect on his voice, and i dig how he put a bit of wild thing in the song

I used to like MPLSound a little more but now I think both are equally good.

Highlights on Lotusflow3r:
Colonized Mind, $ and Love Like Jazz. In that order.

Highlights on MPLSound:
Ol' Skool Company, Here and Dance 4 Me. In that order.

The best songs overall are Ol' Skool Company, tightly followed by Colonized Mind (I don't like the religious lyrics but I like everything else).

LOTUSFLOW3R, DAMN IT! I love it so much. Great fucking rock album. Guitar driven, Hendrix inspired, so many great songs off of this.

MPLSound is the only Prince album that makes me cringe. The only songs on there that I love are "Here", "Valentina", and "Dance 4 me". The linndrum is too repetitive, the first two sounds don't open the album well, the unnessesary use of autotune was weird. HOWEVER, he did make up for it with 20ten.

Lotusflow3r.

I like it pretty much all throughout. I find the songs quite interesting, even if some of the lazy choruses get on my nerves after repeated listens. But what's there not to love about a record that sounds like a cocktail bar version of "Electric Ladyland"? lol

MPLSound is just a fun throwaway for the most part. I find it enjoyable enough to listen to, but it's not a very multi-dimensional record. I also think he should have paid more attention to the synth sounds he used on it.

Lotusflow is boring sub-Hendrix. MPLS is a consistent collection of songs, only bettered by 20Ten and 3121 since the nineties.

I love both albums but I definitely have to go with "Lotusflow3r". The highlights for me would have to be EVERYTHING with the exception of: "4ever, $, Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful. These are Ok songs, but I can't dig them really. Recently I have just started to dig "Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful, it's bearable but still stands midget to the rest of the tracks on Lotusflow3r. '$' is ultimately the weakest song to me on this album. I really never can get into it, it's too fun for me. Haha

As for MPLSound, I LOVE " O'l Skool Company, Dance 4 Me, Here, and Valentina. All of these songs have a beautiful arrangement and just make me feel good! Haha Everything else is simply ALRIGHT to listen to. 'U're Gonna C Me' is cool, but I kind of prefer the version released on "One Nite Alone" Yet it is still stellar, and his vocals are really nice. As for the rest of them: "Chocolate Box, No More Candy 4 U, Better With Time, and the awful There'll Never Be Another Like Me", are forgettable and lacking real emotion for me. Hahaha.

SO definitely Lotusflow3r! The concept of this album is so genius! I love the whole feel of it, and his guitar playing is so amazing! It's really amazing that he released this album!

I have just been jamming to these albums as well as 'Elixer' Haha! I picked it up at target for 5.00! Haha...SOUNDS like a good deal to me; being 3 Cd's. Haha. I think Prince needs to release another album via TARGET! Haha.

Even as this was not mentioned here...'Here Eye Come' by Bria Valente is simply amazingggggggggggggggggggggggggggg! I mean he should had this on Lotusflow3r. Haha..Even if it was just a instrumental. smile

It's Button Therapy, Baby!

i originally immediately took to MPLSound, although I didn't love it. The fun tracks were really fun at first. But it dulled after about 3 listens.

Lotusflow3r is better just because it's more interesting and I can play it front-to-back when I'm willing to tolerate Smooth Like Jazz.

Both of these are total crap and represent Prince at a low point both quality of music and creativity. MPLSound has nothing to do with the Minneapolis sound that was the reason for Prince's success and the reason he became a household name. MPLSound suffers from cheap sounding synths and the entire album has a hollow, plastic-y sound. It's Prince doing a by the numbers parody of himself.

But the real shit turd here is LotusFailu3r. This disc isn't actually that much worse than MPLSound, but all the undo praise it receives from Prince bum lickers makes me sick to my stomach. Literally, the second I stopped listening to Peach and Black podcast was when those HACKS gave Lotus a higher score than Parade.

Lotus is a bunch of covers. And not even covers that are done too well. Ok, Crimson and Clover, cover. Dreamer, hendrix cover. Colonized Mind, more hendrix. Then you have from the lotus and back to the lotus, which are just interlude tracks, and not interesting to boot. 77 bev is also some instrumental garbage he through together in a day. So of the 12 songs on the album, we already have 6 that are un-inspired throw aways.

Of the 6 tracks that are left, Jazz, 4ever, and wall of berlin all suffer from cronic shitty-ness both accoustically and lyricly. These songs are a joke. If an up and coming musician put these on a demo he would be LAUGHED out of the music industry.

All we have left are Boom, Feel better, and $. Boom has some interesting parts but is tough to listen too because it lacks focus (much in the same way that Cause and Effect does). This song is like 4 different songs, it's musical ADD and not in a way that works like the bridge of Computer Blue. Feel Better is a half way decent Funk track till he starts talking all that Bible crap about tapping on the crag and bringing worth water. What a joke.

Finally we have $, the only song on this album worthy of being called a Prince track. Time to dust off Camille again so we have something new to keep us hoping against hope that Prince will once again produce a good album. While this song is no gem, by contrast with the rest of this shit it looks like Automatic.

Lotus is just Prince being LAZY and playing un inspired Santana Esq riffs and old Hendrix crap. Now, I know that music is subjective and different people have different tastes, but there comes a point where you call a spade a spade. If you poll 1,000 people and ask them if the Jackson's "Shake your body down to the ground" is better than Jan Terri's music video "losing you" you will get back 1,000 "HELL YES'S"

My point is, anyone who's not a crazy brainwashed Prince fan boy can listen to this album and they start laughing as it is a failure on EVERY level.

MPLSound is better, but it's like comparing a diarrhea sunday to a diarrhea sunday with a cherry on top.

Funny. We have the exact opposite taste on Lotusflow3r. I like Boom, Walls of Berlin & Dreamer most. $ & Love Like Jazz are my least favorite.

I like most of both albums. The only song I can't really listen to is No More Candy For U. Valentina & Dance 4 Me are my top 2 on MPLSound.

This is was sad to listen to because Dreamer and Colonized mind were the the best of what he had to offer on that 3cd set and they seem a bit lifted. I think he desperately needed to change the people around him. It is clear to me that the musicians around him affect the quality of his work. Maybe Andy will have a good influence on him like Jill and Susannah, I'm gonna hope.
