Lotusflower Reception Question I was out of the Prince loop when Lotusflower was released and as a result didn't follow the buzz surrounding it. It has been in heavy rotation for me the past six months or so and I'm curious about what people thought upon its release. Looking at various critics, it appears the reviews were middling, and I'm wondering what Orgers thought, both upon its release, and currently.
I really love this album. I'm fiending to catch a small show where he does extended versions of some of these tunes like in L.A. a few months back.
From reading past posts, it seems there is an extremely vocal contingent that loves this record, and I'm wondering if that is the consensus among the hardcore fans.

I'd say the general consensus was "Great to see Prince in Hendrix mode, but it's a shame that the material wasn't particularly memorable."
I honestly love Colonized Mind, Crimson and Clover and 4ever (despite what people say). After those tracks... Dreamer, Feel Better Feel Good Feel Wonderful and Boom are solid, even if they're not all that distinct. The rest kind of falls off the radar for me.

It's the best thing he's released this decade. I enjoy each track too which is a bonus

I was out of the Prince loop too (nice way of saying it!) and this one album that proved he can still make good records. I love the rock sound of it, as opposed to the overproduced cds he's made before. Songwriting could be better, but it's good to have him back on the rock n roll track.

Love it! Shame about Mplshit, even Elixir is better than that one.

Most complete and pleasing album since TRC.
(Edit: The album, not the 3CD set, MPLSound is a shameful pile of used wank rags). [Edited 9/3/11 3:17am]

Great, however spoilt by poor tracklist order - 77 Beverley Park does not fit where it was put and shouldn't have been included IMO. But I did think this was his best album since Emancipation so I was pleased with it (I also liked Mplsound and Bria's album). [Edited 9/3/11 3:58am]

I liked it when it came out, and it has been growing on me until now. The only song I dislike and find out of place is Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful.
I think Prince is doing it better now when he plays pop/rock music than when he goes plastic or tries to recreate the mpls sound.

Loved it then. Love it now. One of the few indications over the last several years that he was actually trying. [Edited 9/3/11 7:25am]

Fantastic, strong album, with continuity, theme, and diverse musicality. More guitar on this album then on any he's ever released.
'Lotusflower' should have been released on its' own, with more promotion.
Easily stands up to and exceeds most any album he has ever released.

The 'Lotusflower' disc is one of his best since TGE...However, I feel the whole mess with his website of the same name didn't help it's success. Secondly, MLPsound is shockingly bad, especially for Prince. Keenmeister

Don't understand why Prince gave up on this project so fast. Maybe he was mad, because record label politics prevented this masterpiece from being the number 1 album on billboard. Even though Number two was not bad 4 a one retail sold product. But it did eventually go gold which is big accomplishment in these days. Pop radio could have easily picked up "Crimson & Clover" & "Chocolate Box" as lead singles. If they can play Rhianna & Britney Spears singles. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Lol. Yes, how dare you use a photograph of a badge as an avatar, when someone else has a different photo of the same badge which he doesn't hold copyright to!
blah blah blah | |

Yes! I wuold
Yes! I would. Because the purpose of an avatar is to identify urself individually. Not for someone else to copy a bad picture at that of it.
Also to answer ur other question, that is my badge I bought back when Prince was wearing it during the Controversy period, that I copyed. Smart ass. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! It's a different picture of the same designed badge, you looniac!
Unless you own copyright on the 'rudeboy' badge from the SKA movement of course..? That badge has been around long before Prince got his mits on it... and much longer than you did.
