V10LETBLUES

I found the reaction from the mainstream music press very condescending. They gave the assignment it seems to writers better apt to reviewing the teenybopper cheese than to serious music. The response were condescending write-ups that praised the MPLSound album because they felt that was what Prince fans wanted; a silly rehash of the 80's sound. These mainstream critics were baffled with the Lotusflo3r disk, as well they should be, that's what a good Prince album is supposed to do. Hardcore Prince got it. Lotusflow3r is one of his best albums. Dreamer and Colonized Mind are now classic Prince tracks.

Great, however spoilt by poor tracklist order - 77 Beverley Park does not fit where it was put and shouldn't have been included IMO.

But I did think this was his best album since Emancipation so I was pleased with it (I also liked Mplsound and Bria's album).

Its funny cause I thought the same thing about 77BP

But after visiting 77 Beverly park, it totally made sense. Fit in perfectly. Reminded me of one of the rooms in the house.

I like Bria's album smile

Very predictable, much like a castrated version of TRC. No standout tracks for me!

Generally a strong outing, marred by a clusterfuck of a $100 membership website. (Did everyone get their tshirts yet? lol )

My opinion is that this album should have been released earlier, in 2001, and that it sounds gorgeous/coherent, but it lacks a modern classic single like Endorphinmachine, 7, Gold or even Musicology/BlackSweat

that's why I give the album a B+ and not an A...

of course, being "released" (sort of) with those turds MPLS/Elixer didn't help either...

Yes...right after TRC. I was shocked that Musicology and PE were TRC follow ups. I was expecting the return to fomr TRC to produce exactly what came out on LotusFlower. It really looked like he blinked by doing Musicology etc right after but I guess since the plans for the 2004 Im Back tour, Musicology was a release for that concert project.

In retrospect I think that this album should have been an NPGMC type release. I don't think Prince gained any new fans buy putting this in stores and to be honest I don't know how much $ he really made off it.

Other than a few guitar geeks this album isn't that well appreciated and rightfully so. However, If it would have been released JUST for his hardcore fans as a website only release, I probably wouldn't be quite so miffed about it.
