lol Lol I use to have nightmares about this subject alone, but Ive come to the realization that theres gotta be tons of great music & tons of awful music in the vault, and that being a Prince fan, the good songs would be enough to out-weigh the bad songs. He's released some of the most amazing songs ive ever heard in my life, then some worth-less crap songs(How can this be?)

But heck there could only be 50 good songs, and 500 bad ones. and I'd be please, I even wanna hear the bad stuff, I wanna hear the songs/music because it Prince were talken hear. I wanna hear his whole music catalog fully, yes im @ that point. How can I say its good r bad if i never get a listen?

Agreed....what's 'good' and 'bad' is extremely subjective anyway!!

Well judging by how the music industry is heading, in 50 years Tony M will seem like Mozart in comparison LOL

The bulk of The Vault is going to be exciting for fans, but not that much for the regular music buyer. Many of his songs are favorites among collectors, but I haven't heard more than 2 CDs worth of songs that are amazing. Songs like Big Tall Wall, A Good Man and others are fun for us, but I don't think they'd do well if released as a single.

Personally, I think that the bulk of Prince's vault are more novelties rather than gems.

That said, I still want them released... even if they all sound as silly as Adonis and Bathsheba, which is garbage imho.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

You haven't heard more than two cds worth of sons you'd rather hear in perfect remastered sound quality over a majority of what's been on the last few new albums? I mean, I like a number of songs on all the recent albums, but I could easilly come up with 5-10 full cds worth of vault material I would rather see given a wide official release.

If the circulatiing bootlegs are any indication it's a 50/50 crapshoot in the Vault. Some songs are pure genius and some songs are pure crap! A lot of people think everything in there is going to sound like that 'fantasy album' Prince should've released after Purple Rain biggrin and not like 'The Wedding Feast'sad .

BTW - I could've gone my whole life without hearing 'Cat Scratch'. lol

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I take the bad because it's all part of the story and how he got where he is and how he gor where he was. Good or bad, it all speaks to who he was, is, and will be

I like that sentiment and feel the same way.

We probably could be hearing re-tooled versions of all of these unreleased songs from the vault on every new album release....

I think that's a possibility especially since the leak of unreleased tracks dried up ages ago. Some of the stuff he's doing now has probably been from the Vault. Songs like Lolita and Prettyman gave me that impression because they sound like tracks written for the Time but when they were released there was no Time project going on. Makes me think they were sitting around and he reclaimed them for himself.

Some people have expressed the opinion that the stuff left in the vault (including what we know) is, by and large, unmarketable and not that great comparitively speaking.

It may be nostalgia or the taboo nature of collecting, but I really believe there's about an album per "era" of releasable material and that would be good enough. I don't follow the belief that the vault is endless and endless and endless and everything within it is perfect.

There's gotta be at least 30 reels worth of "Gangsta Glam" and "Face Down" remixes alone.

I feel I have been reading many negative posts from Spinlight on the Org but after reading this one I have to say: good post Spinlight, I agree!

I like to add, that I think Prince has already released his best stuff but I suspect there are some gems from each era that we would truly enjoy.
