I could never take the place of your man, to me, is very important.

It reminds me of how impulsive we can be, and also how temporary love can be, that album has some of the best relationship songs, ever.

If I Was Your Girlfriend shows how hard a man can try and wish to be close to his woman only to realise they are still different

The "Parade" album for me. In my teen years, my mother & I were homeless. I went into K-Mart one day, & I stole the cassette of that album [only because I had no $]. I was a fan of Prince at the time, so It was a good idea to snatch it [I was also curious because at that time, "Kiss" was the only song I'd heard of off that album]. The only thing I had for entertainment was a cheap-ass Walkman giving to me by one of my cousins who upgraded to a shiny sparkly portable CD player. I always loved music too. When I popped that cassette tape in, I. Was. Blown. AWAY! It kept me out of trouble for a good year [along with all of my other Prince tapes/CD's I eventually bought] until we finally got a place to stay. It will always hold a special place in my fuckin' heart. heart

Diamonds & Pearls - Well if werent for my older sister, I probably wouldnt even like this song, but she dedicated this song to me on my 11th birthday, & she danced with me while it played, it made me feel so special. 3 yrs later, i heard pink cashmere, & was officially crazy about P's music.

Electric Intercourse - 1st time I heard this song, was during the lonliest time of my life, it was on a mix CD from a friend who knew i liked Prince, had made for me. I just popped it in, & I heard this beautiful song coming through the stereo, & oh man did I have some sweet Prince dreams that nite cloud9

Key highlights -

The Most Beautiful Girl In The World - played at my wedding reception when my wife walked in.

Sometimes it snows in April - dedicated to a best friend who died. I told Prince about it during an extended chat in a meet and greet back in 2003 and he added it into the show (it wasn't on the set list)

The Everlasting Now - the song that kicked off a 20 minute encore set where I got to stand next to him front of stage in 2003 as part of the OnStage Xperience.

I have so many songs that has displayed such a significant meaning in my life. I would have to say "I Wish U Heaven" ultimately still plays a powerful role in my life. I remember when first hearing this song, it just spoke to exactly where I was in my life. (Also seeing the video was like heaven to me..Haha) The doubts of my convictions followed everywhere I went. I seemed to see differently then everyone else...yet I still wanted "The wish of heaven" I felt the love I had for my girl was leaving me with nothing. Everything I saw was different from what she seen. She saw 11, and I knew I saw 7.

I remember just crying like a baby because we stopped talking for like a week, and I could not think about anything but us. This spoke to exactly to how it feels when you miss someone. Wherever they are, you wish them heaven. Even as you don’t know where they are, or what it is, you continue to search until you find at least a shadow. Shifting shadows are everywhere. But you become convicted that there is more to this shadow! You want more than a reflection! You want the physical or at least spoken words to encourage you. You cry, you run for it, because you want it so badly. It’s like HELL not getting it! Regardless of where they are, you want heaven for them. This song has just picked me up far too many times. As well as others such as Power Fantastic, The Beautiful Ones, & damn near his whole catalog..Haha. Ok DEFINITELY Not all of them, but many of them have spoke to me on personal levels. Haha

17 years ago today, I got married...she left it up to me to pick our first dance song, she had no idea...so when the time came, and we were alone on the dance floor...she heard the starting strands to "The Most beautiful girl in the world"...and our dance was magical......unfortunately, she passed away in September 2001 of cancer...but I will always have that moment and memory...
