What artists have public said I hate Prince There are a lot of post about other artists who say they like Prince, but who has come out publicly to say they hate him or his music. Old band members don't count. Prince's Sarah

I don't think Keith Richards was very impressed.
Or Sinead
Here's a little story involving Jah Wobble
http://percy3.wordpress.com/2010/02/25/last-one-from-the-archives-1999-interview-with-natacha-atlas/
The second story, and this is where I swore, and Nick got really embarrassed, involved The Artist Formally Known as Prince, Prince, who I really don’t like anyway. He had come to see Wobble play, because he was a fan of -Wobble, many people were in the music world, even though he wasn’t wildly popular to the public. He was at the gig, and obviously he had a backstage pass. Prince came up to Wobble and his manager Dave, and he said to Wobble, ‘Oh man, I love your bass, hot and sticky, just how I like it.’ Wobble just looked at Dave and said ‘get this fucking little shit out of here now!’ Wobble doesn’t care, even though Prince was famous. He thought Prince was a pretentious asshole, ‘get this fucking little motherfucking shit out of here now!’ I said this on KCRW radio, and Nick went bright red, I said don’t you beep them out (starts making beeping sounds)? After that he was a bit apprehensive, he was even still Pink when I left.

Rick James eeeeeeverytime he had the chance, god rest his soul. The stuff he wrote about Prince in his book cracked me the hell, I'm almost convinced that it must've been a sexual tension rather than professional jealousy.

None worth listening to, probably.
Except maybe Sinead, because I love her voice and some of her songs but what the fuckity-fuck? She should be grateful as fuck to Prince cuz one of his songs pretty much MADE her in terms of her career. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

I don't blame Sinead for hating him though, that Paisley Park incident was crazy.

It ties into that whole "I don't want anyone covering my songs (except my proteges/influences/girlfriends)" he was talking about on George Lopez, and she was a volatile, confrontational person who reacted when he was talking down to her. She hit a raw nerve, started spitting at him, and he completely lost it. It's not like she was some innocent little girl, she was Courtney Love level crazy back then.
But had Prince found someone to record it, who's to say if it would've been #1?

That isn't what happened at all. Wobble recounted this story in his autobiography. They jammed on stage together in Minneapolis in the early 80's, and Wobble didn't know who Prince was. He thought he was Sylvester.

"That little short, skirt, high-heeled, fishnet stock going OWOWO... wannabe man type human being." He sure was talking about Prince like he was his ex-bitch or something.

And in contrast Prince should thank Sinead (and her label) for making that song a hit anyways and giving him MONEY. I mean I can see both sides.

HAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAA!!!
Do you recall the incident Eddie Murphy had with Prince, retold by Rick? I don't know if I believe it... I mean, Eddie and Charlie did hang with Prince and play basketball that one time back in the day, so it's kinda conflicting.
Still hilarious though

I know CHARLIE has told stories but I don't recall EDDIE mentioning any. Even if he did I doubt it was as colorful as Charlie told it.

Yep. I chalked it up as Rick's imagination though

i can relate to that. "hey let me dump shit on you just cuz i want to, cuz i got some kinda effed up thing inside me that makes me want to spew vitriol, i'm so jealous, i need to boost my ego all over your enigma. i wont ask questions, i'll just tell lies, accuse, belittle, hunt and shoot, and call it 'my opinion'...and there's nuthin you can do about it."
when people like that push it too far, they better watch out for that volcano.

who the hell is Wobble? | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Crazy indeed
"His problem is that I did a song of his without him being involved",O'Connor says."He's jealous. And he did say to me that he wishes I had never done his song.I think that, frankly, that song saved his fucking ass.He was in serious financial trouble until that song happened".
I think Prince picked the wrong person to mess with (lol).Sinead is like a little pitbull.
It's a shame that they had this fight.Sinead's recording of "Nothing Compares 2 U" was one of the few bright spots in a year when Prince wasn't doing so well (Graffiti Bridge?).

Jah Wobble was the bass player in Public Image Ltd, the post-punk band fronted by former Sex Pistols frontman John "Johnny Rotten" Lydon. The "classic" line up consisted of John, Wobble, Keith Levene and Martin Atkins. I highly recommend checking out some of their stuff, particularly "Flowers of Romance"! |
