Of course Little Richard said that needed to slow down his recording as "a little bit of something beats a whole lot if nothing' ...he said that back in the 90s - he must be bursting since early 2000 where prince has put out a little bit of nothing

i don't think little richards statement is negative, he was actually right about holding back a little, however i think he apprecaites prince. He said something like prince has a special gift or something like that.

He said something like prince has a special gift or something like that. It always seemed like a envious back handed compliment to me...I could never see how it was meant in a good light (the little bit of something/whole lot of nothing)...it can't be taken another way than Prince is/will/at risk of putting quantity over quality can it? How true though

I could be wrong, but I'm 99% sure Jah Wobble had left the band by Flowers of Romance. Not 100%, but 99%. I'm too lazy to google it.

Prince is one of the artists mentioned as "kicking ass beyond the call of duty" or some such thing on the liner notes of Pretty Hate Machine.

Ja Rule said something negative about Prince. I cant remember exactly, he was being interviewd, they asked him about his album, he mentioned a track he recorded and prince wouldnt allow the sample clearance so they had to pull the track, so he said "Fuck Prine!", his producer was in the background and kinda said to Ja Rule" you cant say that about him, his a genius", but Ja Rule was like "nah f**k that guy".
I know Ja Rule wheres he now?

Before they became mates Elton John said that Prince was a pratt.

I think the Prince / Sinead spat was more about Prince's annoyance with Steve Fargnoli that with Sinead.
Steve was smart enough to realise that Nothing Compares was a hit waiting to happen he put it right in front of Sinead the moment he took over as her manager after Prince sacked him.
I think Prince hated the fact that Steve and Sinead would make a lot of money on his back. .

That was at the 1990 AMAs. To be fair, those GnR guys were completely wasted and acting like Beavis and Butthead, even when they were on the podium. I'da blown 'em off too.

George recorded an album at Paisley Park in 1996.He's a Jehovah's Witness (like Prince).I can't imagine why he would say something bad about him.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
but why would he get pissed? He's the songwriter. He made a fortune from Sinead's recording! I wish I knew what his real problem was, regarding Sinead.

now I think I remember, but it is a questionable source. It was an orger who claimed they knew GB, and that his opinion of Prince was something like "don't get me started on that fool"
Again, not necessarily a reputable source, and not a public statment My Legacy

I never got what was so good about PINK .. Manufactured pop .. some good songs .. but she just sang em .. an its the production that makes em .. an as far as i know she dont play jack shit
all these artists who dont like prince .. usually missunderstand his shyness an perfectionism as pricklyness an rudeness
I dont give a shit .. he is one f the very best of all time .. NOT EVERYONE IS GONNA LIKE HIM .. not everyone is gonna like anyone ... Sooner we all expect that an concentrate on the people who appreciate us an 4get trying to make those who dont see the light .. the better
far as im concerned PRINCE is a mindblowin tallent an a cool guy .. I am glad to have listened to over the years an feel that he gives to his fans .. an would love to know him but i guess i already do .. thru his music .. cos he puts everything into it an most of himself
whenever i want to hear some new music ...i make some - prince '99'

^ if i was a big super-duper famous well-respected music artist and someone did one of my songs without even paying me the courtesy or consideration to ask me if i'd like to be involved, even at a consultational level, i'd be ticked off too.
suddenly someone takes your song, does whatever they want with it, and dont even say so much as 'do you mind?'.... the height of disrespect.
over-reacting is not the way to go but if thats the way it went down then i can understand why he was peaved. "It's time for you to go to the wire."

Did prince ring up Creedence Clearwater Revival an tell them he was doing a version of proud marry in the early days.. whenever i want to hear some new music ...i make some - prince '99'
