New Album? Does anyone know when Prince is coming out with a new album?

not sure, there have been rumours but they have been proven wrong

I still consider 20Ten the new album... at least here in the U.S.
It's only been released in Europe, and there have been rumors of him releasing it stateside since last fall. As far as Americans are concerned, I think 20Ten (or a version of it) will be the new album.

That would be nice!!! | |

Prince couldn't get a stateside distributor for 20TEN. I won't hold my breath that there are any unburned bridges left to release something new on a wide scale. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

This is why he should have kept a simple, easy, non subscription website. Perhaps a magazine covermount in the usa this time round? Or yet another euro-newspaper release this summer? My money is on nothing being released at all this year tho. Just feel like one of those gap years. Meanwhile, we're still waiting on the 25 min Extraloveable and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Give it up, 20Ten is dead and buried. NEXT!

That means two "gap years" in a row in the US.
I mean...most of us got 20TEN "by any means necessary." But technically, there was no album for the States. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

That wouldn't surprise me.
I think that is why he was doing the W2A tour so that he could get some hype here in the states. I don't think that worked, though.
I still don't understand why he couldn't just either do a traditional website and sell his own music. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

and yet he may have made more the way it was distributed as he was paid up front his asking price and did not have to deal with the creative accounting practices that the industry is so famous for. as far as the marketing campaign it was carried out for the most part by the news media's coverage of him not releasing it stateside and not getting a distributor. having worked in p.r. that was lightening in a bottle.
wasn't it planet earth that universal went into a joint venture with him on and then after he realized he was about to be played when all was said and done he sold it thru that rag in london and universal pulled the stateside release?
prince has always liked playing in his own sandbox cause he gets to set the rules. i'm betting on more of the same. i look at him like the indie films that get a limited release and build momentum by word of mouth until it cannot be ignored. i'm lucky my friends across the pond hook me up whenever he drops something there- so it's all good.

Maybe he could have his next album pressed on vinyl and deliver it to the record stores himself. That's what the Flaming Lips are doing:
The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Did he not say he wasn't going 2 release any new music this yr?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
He actually said he was going to "chill" because "the music industry was going through some changes" and he planned on "waiting it out".
An ominous answer, but an answer. time flies.

Do you think Target would do another in-store release with him?
I personally don't see any reason he would release 20Ten in the States at this point. The diehard fans have it, and the general public doesn't know anything about it. He's moved on IMO. Seems he's burned the internet bridge too. Lotusflow3r? We don't even need to go there, do we? Plus his "internet is dead" statement, while obviously ludicrous no matter what he meant by it, only makes him look like a schmuck as soon as he dips his toes in the WWW waters again.
But, what's probably really stopping Prince from doing a pay-per-download DIY website like Wendy & Lisa is that there is no money up-front and it would have to be run as a business venture. He's complained that iTunes won't pay him up-front, so there some precedence to this theory. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Sure, he made a bunch of cash from the periodical placement deals. This may have been savvy marketing for a hair care product or something equally disposable, but when you give away your "art" for free for a very brief time in history, it becomes just another commodity lost to the ages. It certainly doesn't make matters any better that the newspapers using his dying brand were of questionable quality. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

No. I don't see Target ever doing that type of business model with him again. Best Buy still has stock left over from their exclusive deal for Rainbow Children, but they never priced it at 98¢ like Target had to. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I just don't see him sitting on his new projects forever. He will find a way to release some music in the next two to three years, if his past history has any bearing on the future... I think we'll get something this year. That's pretty much Prince's pattern, right - constantly putting out music. I know he might've SAID there wouldn't be any, but I'm pretty much like, "We'll see."

do c Prince releasing new muisc this year. He revealed some impressive new songs @ The Troubador & 21 nites @ The Forum here in LA "When She Cums" was one of them. Prince rarely per4rms unheard songs in concert. It was the perfect promotion 4 what is 2 come. Plus he per4rmed some 20TEN tracks also. Which says he is not through with that masterpiece album from last year yet. He also revealed months ago that there is a 20TeN deluxe. Be patient "Purple Hippies". will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

he's heading over to europe again soon....maybe he's setting something up to come out then...like Planet Earth and 20Ten...he's definitely burnt his bridges Stateside, not sure if there are any more whospapers and scagazines that would do a deal with him now though...but as the last 2 were bought (and sold online all over the world) then I guess if they turned a profit they'll work together again..that's a big 'if' though....
he does like to do things on his terms...which is all good and fine until you get a reputation for being 'difficult'.....he can say what he likes about the industry - most things I agree with him - but he's also gotta look at his own history in the last 14 or so years...
I guess that's why he's touring so much...still gotta make a living!

I'd be happy with an official dvd release of the W2A or even W2E...just sayin'

Why do people still care about 20TEN, you can buy it on Ebay or illegally download it in the States, I'd prefer a new album instead. 20TEN really sucked in my opinion.
Why not only give away/sell albums on his concerts? That could work for the Europe shows and possible future W2A shows. Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

I like 20TEN just fine, but people complaining about it not being available to them are just being lazy.
