Canadian LUV DVD release?

I got an email a few days ago from amazon.ca about a May 17th release for Prince and the Revolution's LUV on DVD. All the page really divulges is that it's NTSC format (obviously), and that it's being released on the Koch International label. Anyone have anymore info?

It does say Luv, but I would guess that's a typo. Koch isn't known for releaseing bootlegs, so this might be worth looking for.

Wow, thanks for the tip! I've pre-ordered 2 for now. Canada was where the beautiful version of SOTT was released too, so hopefully the quality on this will be just as good.

When I first watched the old VHS version many moons ago, seeing him say 'does your man have an ass like mine' (or something close to that) in those lace pants was what put me over the edge and got me totally hooked. drool

I have a 30 yr old son and a couple of years ago I called him into the room and said 'here, this is what started the obsession' and showed him that little snippet. If his eyes weren't connected, they would've rolled right out of his head while saying 'WHY DID YOU MAKE ME WATCH THAT?!?!". lol

I also made a video tape years ago for a girlfriend and while recording that section, I paused and rewound it a couple of times, it cracked her up.

What really matters is what region it. If it's region 1, I can't play it. But I can play NTSC format.

I could sort of see someone mistaking the title for 'luv'... if you ignore the dot above, the 'i' does sort of look like a 'u'. Mind you, this presupposes the fact that the person completely missed the fairly obvious 'e'.

When this tape was released, I remember thinking it was called 'love' for a while, until I bought it and realized that my 'o' was an 'i'.

Here's a pic from Google Images:

FWIW, I hope this is what it is... his Purple Rain solo was on fffyyyaaahhh!!! biggrin

You could all have this in much better than originally released quality right now.

Prince & The Revolution - Syracuse And The World (Fullasoul), is the release you need.

but why on earth? the dvd standard means that all PAL players must play NTSC (yet the standard doesn't insist on all NTSC players having to play PAL discs)

when 24fps film is converted to PAL at 25fps it usually has a direct frame to frame conversion meaning the video and audio is speeded up by 4% which is a half semitone. that's why prince sounds even more like camille on the pal versions of SOTT

we don't even know what this dvd is, if it's the syracuse show it'll be from SD videotape masters for NTSC broadcast, as it was recorded in the states, and video conversion from one standard to another has it's own horrible artifacting

what dvd player do you have? most players can be made multi region pretty easily, usually via entering a code on a remote, sometimes updating firmware

if you have something crappy like a bang and olufsen that can't be hacked, then you can just rip the full disc to your pc and burn it to a dual layer disc and remove the region encoding and it should play. unless it's bang and olufsen, as the most horribly overpriced shit usually has horribly overblown restrictions

if you list the make and model i'll see if it can be made MR and tell you how

Lot's of speculation about this. Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm assuming that it is in fact the Live show from the PR tour.

A little side story... My friends band was signed to a subsidiery of Koch records (Sopra Evil). Once the paperwork was done it took them over a year to approve a budget for the album. Once the album was done it took them nearly another year to release it. Once the album was released it took them another year or so to get them on the road to support it. During the time before the album dropped, the label approved (on several occasions) the release of information concerning the album to several large publications (Metal Edge, and the like), and "updated" pre-release info at sites like Amazon and iTunes. In every case before the actual release of the album the info was incorrect in some form or another.

The point? I think a simple spelling mistake might be the least of our concerns when it comes to Koch. I don't mean to sound like such a hater - they've got their fingers in a lot of pies, and I suppose it's tough to run a tight operation in that regard. But prior experiences can sure lower a persons expectations. In any case I'll be looking forward to this!

its not just Koch. i see stuff on amazon thats listed incorrectly prior to the release date all the time. its usually cleared up before the release date.

Not to mention, if stuff like this sells good when released legit, they might feel compelled to release more.

An official version should blow away any bootleg DVD just like the official SOTT DVD did.
