i really dont think hes that great of a dancer

he just does stupid movements , shakes and rolls his hips, splits, and feels on himself

He is better at prancing than dancing.

Idk if its a different style of dance but what he does I don't like. He looks stupid.

I think he looks hot when he dances. Miles Davis once compared Prince to Charlie Chaplin and the comparison is pretty accurate in my opinion. Man, for a "fan site" lots of fans here are super critical of Prince, geez stay home then, LOL!

Prince's main strengths have always been songwriting, musicianship and his vocal range. I dont think of him as an amazing dancer but he's still very good.

I agree some fans are too crticial. He already does alot of other stuff, i doubt he's spent too much time practicing dance moves. Still very good at it though

He's a dancing genius when compared to his appearance on American Bandstand.

I think he's in control of his dance moves. He's doing exactly what he wants to. Even in Purple Rain days, he made a marketing decision to avoid and change his type of movements away from anything related to Jackson, since the two were being competitively compared and he was the newcomer to the spotlight. He's careful on choosing his moves to fit his image at the time.

compare how he moves in say... the Partyman or Batdance videos to someone like Lady Gaga on her videos. You can see which one can actually dance.

Or look at any number of live performances like Pussy Control, The Gold Album Medley, Aresnio Hall Show #1, or even the SOTT film.

Check out the solo dancing segment in the bootlegs of US Lovesexy shows.

Also check the Thieves in the Temple video.

Not to mention he breaks out into ballet moves on the Nude tour.

Actually much of the Nude tour was his most precise and swift dancing.

Or do you mean just standing and moving to a beat? Like what would he do at a night club?

and then again.. he does it in heels also... where micheal never have tried...

Seems a stupid question to me. Man is an amazing dancer. I've not studied dance or gone watching it or owt, but seems a no brainer, musically he has rhythm in abundance - all the instruments he plays, and would've thought that rather helps him in being able to dance. Can Prince Dance??? Next question will be does the Pope shit in the woods!

Yeah i try to avoid criticizing Prince, but like i said, its a different style of dance and its just a style of dance that i just don't like.

He's done some silly moves along the years (the video footage from the Dirty Mind era can be hilarious to watch). It would be absurd to state that he cannot dance though.

The man is a genius and the dance is funky as hell!

watch delirious and irresistible bitch/ possessed syracuse 85 and then tell me prince wasn't a great dancer, or housequake during SOTT, or the future through to kiss during nude tour, i could go on and on. when prince was young his dancing was raw, primal and charged with energy, inevitably as he's got older his athleticism has diminished and consequently we now get the prancing and posing which is starting to look ridiculous. but in his day prince was a fantastic dancer, nobody looked better doing stepover microphone and dropping into splits, not even jb.

I think Prince is dancing less because of some leg injurie ,

he is only 52 and that is not old,

James Brown was doing acrobatic stuff when he was Prince age.

Prince didn't know how to dance until 1999 tour.

FROM 1982-1998 he was amazing dancer

and he can dance well for an average person

he just looks alittle off

like certain people you can "feel" them speaking through their body

i dont get that with prince

for example beyonce can dance but cant dance

she looks slightly off, likes she trying to hard its not natural

I was a high school and college cheerleader and won a major gymnastic met and I still say Prince is a great dancer...he has great muscle control and can do current dances when he wants plus he still does it in heels and does it well ...love his energy and electic movements. He has skills with and without singing and playing instruments ..still the man, hands down...so my answer is, of course he can, was there any doubt...U better ask somebody just sayin ...

exactly he wouldn't t fit in with other dancers on the dance floor because he's just too Prince-like with his movements. I saw him dancing in a club and he sicks out badly.
