I'd say 9/10, the whole JW thing gets on my nerves at time. I really dont care that he is a JW, its just that sometimes he acts like its his way or the highway when it comes to GOD. Still love his music, hell i still listen to 20ten alot, i liked MPLS sound and Lotus Flower, and still love 3121. Just seen him twice in the Carolina's, still the best live act ive ever seen.

i am about a 9 out of 10.....i still think he is a genius and still the most fascinating figure in popular music right now...apart from maybe the late 90s when....for me....he lost his way but he has always been fasinating since the early 80s....even guys here who think he has lost it in the last 10 or 15 years would still say he is always worth keeping an eye on because you just never know what he is going to do next....

Well, I thought that giving a score out of 10 of how much you like the music shows how big a Prince fan I am. But apparently it doesn't. So I don't understand this either. neutral

Top level, couldn't love another musician as much as I love him. His music keeps me going, there is so much to listen to and enjoy. I've gone to a few shows recently and love him even more with every show. He just still has that it factor that attracted me all those years ago. 1000/1000 Prince deserves it, he keeps it fresh and exciting, still a bit of mystery there, which keeps me intrigued..

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

7/10.

I couldn't recognise, or name, band members or their role in the band (maybe some but only a few).

I don't read lyrics so can't sing any.

I deleted most of the boots from my Mac recently (if I don't listen to them why have them).

I own every (easily available) release.

I am more than capable of critiquing his performances.

I shudder when I see posts from sycophants (read 'fam').

I have never posted to the Prince Photos threads. Nor do I look at them.

I love his musicianship and his ability on the guitar but feel he is far from the best. (He gets lost in distortion and Santana-based drivel.)

I would rather be at a Prince concert than anyone else's.

I love his early work, some of his 90s and a bit of his recent stuff.

I think Controversy is the best live song I have ever heard.

Creep from Coachella is a guilty pleasure. Apparently Radiohead aren't like Prince when it comes to covering songs. Thank fuck everyone isn't like Prince.

I'd have to say a 10 for me...

Everybody who knows me, knows Prince.

Although I have other interests, Prince is the more the specific one for me.

Whenever I see anything to do with him outside of my own searching or being on the internet I still get really excited depending on what it is.

Prince is definitely my hero

10 for me. I listen to songs from each era and enjoy them. While i admit his 80's output was his best, he's made plenty of songs i like over the past 20 years or so- and its unrealistic to expect someone in their fifties to be at their peak.

What i dont get it the negativity. If you dont like any album he has done in several years, why bitch about it? Why not move on to some other artist? You dont have to like his recent work if it doesnt appeal to you, but te whining on this board is way too much.

I've been listeneing to some bootlegs recently(box o chocolates, dream factory, dawn 4.1) and the hits/b sides and 1999. Plus the videos for the 17 days, when doves cry, and something in the water rehersals with the revolution. Love it all.

Would you rather have a site where all you read is praise? So would Prince no doubt.

Surely we have every right to critique an album or song? If I am entitled to point out it's merits surely I am at liberty to highlight its flaws?

Positivity and negativity are constantly required in life. It is very, very unhealthy to have only one perspective. Even if it's right.

I could think of nothing more boring than a site that does not contain critical views of an artist work.

The negativity only seems apparent when the volume of critisism significantly increases.

The level of "negativity" is only a reflection of the quality of output, from the fans that know his work and capabilites best.

I'd also be a little questioning of myself if I found everything he did to be 100% fantastic - no more or less gold-plated, diamond encrusted perfect than the previous or next output.

If you think everything he'd done is absolutely fantastic with no exception and that he is never ever a dick then I suggest you get some rubber gloves and alcohol gel....it's only a matter if time before you're going through his bins.

i think contrustive criticism is fine and its completely ok to say that "i liked this song/album but not the other". No he isnt perfect. But its when people keep whining, then i see it as pointless.

I agree. I just think the volume of criticism is more a reflection of the general concensus of Prince's current output than whining for whinings sake.

I have really enjoyed the last few albums, but i know I'm in a minorty.

I also accept that Prince's current output is less solid and coherent than his heyday material. If Prince raised his game, then the whining would lessen.

Equally, the whining will never completely deminish, as there will always be a small minority who want to see Prince repeat the highs of the 80's. They won't accept that repeating a time in music history, or a joyous time in their own youth is asking the impossible.

I think its important to remember that this site is for fans of Prince, not fans of Prince "now". Some people have every right to only love the early stuff and stop buying or liking the new. There seems to be a group of fans of the new material that try to shut down the thoughts of the fans of the old world.

Its almost as if some feel you cannot be true fan if you do not support Prince now. The silly think is, there is no such thing as a true fan.

Especially when they're criticizing, the "negative" and "whining"fans...while admittedly...listening to bootlegs. I wonder which Prince prefers?

All happy, rants, raves and praise of his bootlegged work.

Or

A little harsh but honest criticism of his work...that he was paid for.

hmmm

was 10/10 but have been very lax over the last few years, so now probably 4/10- wouldn't say no if he toured london again. But interest has been revived due to a prince thread started on a UK football (soccer) forum and us oldies are out doing our "Princeness" ! Not been on here for 2 nhalf years !

The Beautiful Ones will ALWAYS smash that picture, always, everytime.
