I was puzzled by this one too. But I think he was referring to the recording industry who owns the artist's songs. I guess he thinks it's okay to perform other's songs live, but not to record (and take credit for) recording other's songs...!?

I think he was also saying that the labels push the covers on the artist.

Prince was very classy, well put together show and very good interview. But peeps here always find something negative as usual. Very good introduction 2 what is 2 becum. Can't wait till tommorow night 4 the debut of his 21 night stand here in "The land of stars but only one mo0n"...

Great performance as always. He really is in a class of his own when it comes to the performance side of things. The interview had a couple of cringe-moments, but it wasn't too bad overall.

7/1 starts the july 4 weekend so after he plays la,then maybe chicago,philly then heads to nyc 4 a 21 residence in either msg,radio city or the apollo and charges $25.00 per ticket..it is on(bring more than footspraycause if its him with the time and sheila e....they gonna have to call a cornorer cause the funk gonna be off da hook.......

In comparison to past Leno and SNL shows I've gotta say I didn't care for the show tonight either. I just watched it a 2nd time and it just doesn't hit it with me. Laydown just had no funk or soul, it was too busy or something. (did someone say it was extended?) I just kept waiting and hoping for it to get better.

Shelby has become the new Tony M. for me. No offense but it's time to move on from that. It was ok and tolerable at 1st but it's got worn out.

Prince has gotten old and peaked? Because WE ALL know it is coming, there is going to be a time where your going to name past performances that are better then new ones.

Well i thought it was pretty good, the interview was the basic Prince interview, but i highly enjoyed the closing of the show, Sheila was amazing, and and P seemed very comfortable, the questions werent awkward, it was the jokes r Lopez's nervousness, that made it seem awkward i guess. But P shined liked alwayz.

i like that he's taking a break from writing & making so much music at once, what he called "rehab." Lol, i think it will serve a good purpose, bcuz when he decides to get bck to making new music, it will be perfected, and we can say "i miss hearing new P songs, glad theres a new one." cuz i doubt anyone says that now LOL

oh and i thought Lopez was dead on wit that whole internet text thing, P was shortning words since 4ever, but i wouldnt take credit 4 it all now either P LOL

Overall a good show by Prince, but as some have mentioned not as great as his Leno performances. As for Prince's voice-I would say it was the sound system that wasn't good.

People should be honest with themselves about the reality of Prince today and the reality of Prince even 2 years ago. When the man can't be fucked with to release his album in the states (despite playing a song from said album on US television) and he states he is in recording rehab (something he hasn't said since the Mayte days), you're headed for a downhill trend.

Performances were good to OK, the Laydown was good, TBO was nice to look at, but vocals not so good

and I don't care, because just some bad night for one song doesn't make Prince less talented or loose his voice. He is just....Prince! And I love his talents and I love his looks.

I wish he did something similar in NYC for 21 days. I would go to every concert.

As for Lopez show, he is very funny man, and if you think that he was annoying, I think is because Lopez himself couldn't believe that Prince was in his show giving him interview and performing some songs.

Prince picked right show because Lopez doesn't bash Prince and he is diverse.

Lopez jokes are really funny, you just have to understand that sense of humor. And even better if you understand Spanish culture very well and you won't stop laughing watching his shows. I'm European myself, but I lived in South America and I interact with Spanish-speaking people and I fluently speak Spanish. And I'll tell that you Lopez is hysterical.
