Prince's Acting skills

it might sound crazy but i think prince showed a lot of acting potential

he could have really been good if he took it seriously.

he did fairly well considering the terrible script in GB and UTCM.

I just watched Graffitti Bridge for the first time, and his facial expressions are OVER THE TOP!! Like when he's watching Tevin Campbell sing Round and Round....hilarious...

I did love his face when his band mates told him his "future wife" was over at Morris' club.

He puts some acting into his songs too....I mean, drama....

So does prince have a future in comedic acting or serious dramas?

Maybe he should start off with softcore porn and work his way up.

Maybe he should just concentrate on making album that is worth more than a 30p cover price.

The softcore porn thing would no doubt be a big success though. lol

Prince actually had some nice moments in Purple Rain and Under the Cherry Moon. With a little more training, he could have been a pretty fair actor.

But I think what made Purple Rain work is that (at that stage, anyway) people still didn't know much about him. Now, he's too well-known as himself - by which, I mean that his onstage persona is too established - for him to "shape shift" the way an actor has to be able to in order to be successful. (Successful in terms of believability. Making a lot of money is a whole 'nother thing.)

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

i know in prince spirit its natural to do an album every year but maybe he should take it slow and do other projects he might get some unexpected inspiration and make another classic album.

i wonder if he ever paints anymore? if so it would be nice if he auctions some paintings off for charity. Prince Fams would be the first in line to buy.

and softcore did wonders for Kim Kardashians career. lol

i.e. the ventrilaquist part... loved it. And the "Wreka Stow" scene in UTCM.

I agree there. I actually just watched UTCM a few days ago again and I think when Prince is jammin' to Life can be so nice then sees Mary driving up, I think that was pretty good acting there razz

I really liked those parts...compared to some of the crap I see on T.V. I would consider that acting. I would also include the Lake Minetonka Part.

^ i agree, hes to established now to be "believable" in a movie.

the audience can't shed the "Prince" persona.

but in the 80s he could of took it futher if he really wanted to.

I agree 100% with this, i'm just not sure that acting should be that other project.

The painting sounds interesting.

A Christopher Tracy is the best role i've ever seen. Arogant, but funny. Simply Prince.

Prince is hardly an actor. The only movies that he's made are ones where his character isn't that far removed from himself. In PR, he was the emotionally unstable musician, in UTCM he was a happy whore, and in GB he was a brooding artist. These "characters" were just snapshots of himself at the time. We've never seen P take on an actual acting role, where he has to a) play a character different from his own and b) doesn't have the final say in the shots or edits of the movie....and we never will (hopefully).

time flies.

When Prince is on stage or doing interviews....He's acting.

I think he's an ok actor. Graffiti Bridge was terrible because of his directing--not his acting.

He's far, far, faaaaaarrrr better than many of the singers that have been given movie roles

(except Cher of course).
