^then, explain the rationale behind your post.
The people who like the song won't start disliking it because of what you say.
You won't start liking it because of what anybody says.
So, what's the use in digging and digging?
something to talk about |

Why? Just because the OP doesn't like the song you seem to love? I thought you were a grown up, intelligent woman. This is just stupid.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

log off was a very appropriate response to 802's fucked up and very wrong opinion.

Songs like this is why I'm a big fan of Prince. A fushion of funk, rock, a tad bit of classical. It's beautiful. I get lost listening to it. One of his best instrumentals. |

I really love Alexa de Paris,
for some sort of strange reason, it wouldn´t surprise me if this song is going to be played on my funeral. |

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

As a tune, I think Alex is average. But its musicianship is what elevates it. This was Prince's moment where he opened up to other contributions. Sheila's drums on it are quite unique and Clare's orchestration is excellent.
Its easy to forget that with Alexa recorded in 85, only 2 years after he was still recording most of his music at home alone. Prince was shifting from a life with snyths and linns to real instruments, solo and groups.
Also, as a pre cursor to Madhouse, it was really showing how prince was growing and gaining confidence with his peers as a musicial himself.
Out of context, I can see how it feels fairly mundane now. But for its day, it was a whole different direction for a kid who had been delivering solo RnB material most of his career.
