Hey if that's what you like, you shouldn't have to explain. Nothing wrong with your taste in men. Prince just has that "pretty man" look, but any Black person could appear to have Euro features, regardless of how light or dark-skinned they are or their hair texture. When I look at Janelle Monae's facial features, for example, (small nose, small lips), she does not appear to have society's "stereotypical" view of what a Black person's facial features is suppose to look like or appear to many.

She does not have thick lips or a wide nose or thick in weight, which are often the stereotypical notion many in society seem to have of Blacks, which is usually some ignorant person's idea of what they think every Black person is "suppose" to look like, and none of us are the same, exact shades of color. OF4S, I know we don't always agree on this topic, and no disrespect, but where the heck are you coming up with this stuff? There is no "specific" look for Black men or women, it all depends on the DNA.

Just like Iman, who is married to David Bowie, said that there is no specific feature for Africans in general, because they all come from various ethnic groups, and identify with the features of that specific ethnic group, so Black men with stronger African genetics does not necessarily mean they tend to have narrower eyes and wide noses.

I have a lot of Africans living in my community from various parts of Africa, and I can tell you, that they are various complexions just like Black Americans, with various facial features. You have to factor in the region their ancestors were living in, as well as the climate, so no they don't all have the same characteristics, no more than people with strong European genetics do. For Black Americans, their DNA is very mixed, that's a fact, so it is not surprising that you may have one sibling, very fair or light-skinned and another dark-complected or with green, hazel or blue eyes. This is nothing new. That is just how it is with Black Americans and Black Caribbean families, and part of that, has to do with the history of slavery and the intermixing that took place in various ways during that time.

According to Kim, however, there are no hard feelings. She later tweeted that she was given a second chance to wiggle around for the crowd: "Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!"

The only reason why Kim's minute on stage got attention is because she's a reality tv celebrity. She later got back on stage with her boyfriend, Kris Humphreys, and they were both dancing together on stage, while Prince played the piano and sung some medleys, while teasing the audience about some songs he could or could not sing.

I'm saying because of various things, especially race mixing, there is no specific look for Black men/women.

When I say Black, I refer to a group of people who may or may not identify that way in America. Because it is a Social/Political identity. Not the same as someone saying they are Nigerian or Italian or Chinese or Swede etc etc

White is also a 'Social Political' term

Black as a social political term is also why people who choose to identify as biracial or multiracial have and do encounter strong resistance from black-identified americans.

There are many people who do not like the term Black(-American) and identify as African-American and do not see it as interchangible.

In the early 1980's I was a part of a Pan-African cultural group led by a Dr. David Anderson(Sankofa) He's an historian, and more spefically deals with a lot of the use of terms labels and the evolving or devolving(is that a word?) from the beginning of Africans being in America till now. He used the term Black only in specific spacing because of it's connection to the shift in the Civil Rights movement. He refers to himself and family as African-American because he deals only in cultural connections via West Africa and American cultural developments. And he is very much integrated and American.

Race identies in this country have shifted many times since Europeans Native-American & Africans 'met' on the shores of the new world.

Iman is correct, there are many ethnic difference in the indeginous African continent. But African-Americans don't come from the whole of Africa. they come from mostly (because of convienence and accessibility and less loss of trade) West Africa & Central Africa,mostly the East Coasts of Africa. Not north East or South Africa. And they ethnic group there are closer in genetic relation:Nigeria, Congo, Ghana and others. Many African countries resisted or did not allow the slave trade. Many countries were in accessible because of the Sahara dessert.
