Excellent music, actually quite interesting and thought provoking lyrical theme to me, although I'm not religious. It stands out from the rest of his catalogue and not in a bad way - it was the last time (IMO) that he was really highly inspired. Now he's just good, but not pushing the boundaries anymore musically. But he's still innovative in marketing.

From WB slavery to JW slavery. Poor fella. Not one of his best moves.

To be completely and 100% truthful, it was like that album TOTALLY turned me off from Prince all together...and I've been an avid friend of Prince since Purple Rain was playing at the US-23 Drive-In.

Anyways, yes, I stopped listening to him all together until very recently...when 20Ten came out. 20TEN was like a fire was reborn within me...a purple fire of peace!

*ahem*

No more to say. smile

One of his most respectable albums conceptually and for craftsmanship/packaging/tour promotion... even if you hate the views. I don't think to much about the sexist or non scientific stuff... think of it more like scifi fantasy.

I'll say, I thought I was the only one who liked Prince here, I sure feel that way a lot. (Have you ever tried to buy Prince albums in the wrecka stows here, the people behind the counter have barely heard of him and if they have they say (The Purple Rain guy is still alive). All my friends barely know who he is. Even Real Groovy in Auckland has slim pickings nowadays.

We should all start an on line fan group or even have a fan meet up where we can talk about Prince. One of us should start a thread in Fan Gatherings and show the Americans we are fans here after all.

There might be more kiwis than Aussies here, but I will say the Aussie fans are cool too, especially the Podcast guys (They are Australian).

So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Don't even get me started on feeling alone in this world when it comes to P, Music-wise he doesn't even exist over here. There are good parts to it though - means I can keep him all to myself batting eyes

That's a good idea, I'd really like to see how many of us are on here .. I was already surprised at how many Kiwis popped up in this thread! omg

Have started a Kiwi Orgers group thread in Fan gatherings, all you Kiwi fans who are interested in starting our own group, read it and see what you think. And yes People who like the Rainbow Children can join it (I like to encourage debate)

Same here.

IMO, that album was one of, or possibly the most inspired-sounding of his post-80's work. Since my primary reason for listening to any music is for the musical structure, I can easily overlook the lyrics.
