Glee creator wants to do a PRINCE episode!!!!!!!

http://perezhilton.com/20...ge-michael

Leave no legend unheard on Glee!

Ryan Murphy has expressed an EXTREME interest in featuring both Prince and George Michael hits on his mega successful show, Glee.

At the recent Eat Pray Love premiere, Ryan gushed over how much he loved the man behind Purple Rain, saying:

"I want to do something on Prince. I love Prince. I think he is just a genius, and I would love to feature him and his music on the show. Everything about him is dreamy and fantastic, and more than that, he meant a great deal to my life growing up. So I'm saying, 'Prince, help me out.' "

Can you hear him, Prince?! Get on the horn and give him your blessing!

As for using good ole drunken Georgey, Ryan confesses he like to use his music from the 80s, but not unlike Brit-Brit, he's not so keen to have him on the show. (No one blames you, bb!) Ryan explains:

"I don't think George Michael will be on per se, but I'm a huge fan of George Michael and I love his music…so we are gonna do something with George Michael's music."

That's sounds safer to us. We loves us some Faith, but we don't love the idea of tiny Chris Colfer having to lock his dressing room door and watch his ass every time George is around!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yo Prince! If you're reading this..... DO IT. DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT.

Play your cards right and you'll have a whole new generation of fans and sell a whole lot of records too.

You did American Idol...... this would be a MILLION times better than that.

DOOOOOOO ITTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how I feel about this. It could either be extremely awesome or absolutely horrible like the Madonna episode. I admit that the episode made me find all of the Material Girl I could lurking in my iPod and listen. Glee would expose a new generation to Prince's music.

However,I think songs in Glee should be used to further the storyline but they didn't in the Madonna episode. It just came off as gratitious use of Madonna and made me want to kill myself as I watched. If Prince even allows this to happen, the writers should choose songs that work with the storyline. Which I doubt they will.

And don't get me started on Matt Morrison's horrendous cover of "Tell Me Something Good."

I don't watch Glee, so I'm not so hot on him doing that.

But, I would LOVE for So You Think You Can Dance to do a tribute night, that would be awesome! I'd much rather watch dancers interpret his original music rather than hear some other singers butcher it.

I think its kinda cheesy but some of the songs they have covered sound very cool. It wouldn't hurt. But it would be wise not to be physically involved, let the kids sing his songs and let the kids have the show to themselves.

in other words, i don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that Prince is going to sign off on something like that.

As much as I love Glee, they have a way of Kidz Bop-izing songs, and I'd hate for them to do that to any of Prince's songs.

However, it would be really good exposure for P since most Glee covers (and their originals) top the iTunes charts and spark some interest for his stuff in kids my age (college/HS crowd).

Kinda strange, kinda awesome.

Good point, but that was him performing his music. I don't think there's any way at all he'd go 4 this.

2night I love everybody and everybody loves me...

If and when they do this "Everybody Loves Me" is a shoe in.

Then let's see all the haters forget their hatred of this song as it becomes the song of the year and the masses praise the man again (okay, thats a little much, but you get my drift)

Really? Think about it.

Prince could....no, Prince WOULD literally make millions from this, without having to do anything.

He doesn't have to appear on the show. He doesn't have to do anything other than agree to let them do it and I imagine they'd send him a list of songs they would want to do and he would most likely agree to some, but not others.

Since the second season is starting next month and all the episodes will have been written at this point, if he agreed to let them do it for Season 3, which would begin airing in fall 2011, he could time it with an album and tour to REALLY maximise the sales potential. If he did another commercial album with a major, like 3121, he could have a hit off the back of it with the right song.

Honestly, given the fact that this has come directly from the CREATOR of the show, he's basically saying "Hey Prince, I want to give you a shitload of money. Do you want it?".

We're talking about the man who did a soundtrack for Batman. We're talking about a man who let The Simpsons record the song "My Name Is Bart". We're talking about the man who did a song for Pepsi. This really isn't that much of a stretch.

One of the most popular shows on TV wants to use his music, thereby exposing it to a whole new generation, both the Glee soundtrack albums and the original artists recordings sell a lot after the shows have aired, there's a ton of PR in it that could easily be utilized to promote whatever current project/tour he might be doing at the time......and you guys think he wouldn't even consider it? That's insane. Prince is a smart businessman (most of the time).

Sure, I wouldn't put money on it definitely happening, right now. But to think that Prince would just totally dismiss the idea of doing it, is not giving him enough credit. He's a smart man. He sees the opportunity it presents.

Good post.

And this is the ONLY drama that has focused on music in a recent memory, that it is hit is a big plus.

It would be a good show to support for the music itself and the demographic is perfect.

This could be huge for Prince. And he has about a gazillion songs that would be perfect for the show. nod

you're forgetting the part where A) they release the soundtrack of the episode featuring the cast doing the songs, and B)how much money WB would make off of this.

And YOU'RE forgetting that it's been confirmed that Prince has had numerous meetings with WB in the last few months, most likely discussing remasters. If Prince didn't want WB making money, would he do that? Would he have agreed to the release of "Ultimate" in 2007? Would he have agreed to "Diamonds & Pearls" getting released on DVD a few years back?

Secondly, you don't need permission to release covers. You know this.
