ah sorry, this is meant to be THAT'S THE JOKE and not THATS THE JOKE The Compromise Theory:
Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives. The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists. Is it a deal?

I agree in theory with the article. The analog waves will have the subtle changes digital will gloss over. And I do love 12" of artwork rather than 5". However, think about the source material. If Prince, or whatever artist you're listening to, recorded the music on digital equipment, the material was just 0s and 1s to begin with. Wouldn't those subtle changes be lost the second Prince sings into the microphone? And if the drums come from a drum machine and most of the sound comes from a keyboard, isn't all that sound electronic as well? Regarding mp3s vs. CDs, even I can tell the difference. With so many people listening to compressed and squashed music files meant to be transferred fast, I don't think anyone's heralding the audiophile quality of their ipod and cheapie stock earbuds.

Yes thats what I love, just watching the record go round and round, I have a lot of 80s vinyl and my newest vinyl is a 12 inch of Purple Medley from 1995. I need to get a new turntable and blast that stuf agin, the 80s vinyl still sounds great and the grooves more raw. My Vinyl Copy of Dirty Mind I truly cherish (It must have been played like 2000 times back in the 90s. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Not knowing the difference between "then" and "than" isn't a typo. He does it repeatedly in the article. © Bart Van Hemelen

His 1980s records were all recorded on tape.
Not sure about what happened afterwards, I don't know when they started using ProTools etc.
But even in those cases where it's recorded to HD instead of tape I suspect the source material has higher sampling rates etc than what ends up on CD.
I'd LOVE to get remasters of the 1980s material on Blu-ray in pristine audio quality. Neil Young held out releasing his Archives set for a format that was just as good as vinyl, and he released the set on Blu-ray.

I seem to remember an interview with Levi Seacer Jr saying that Goldnigga was recorded to tape, as he felt digital was too cold sounding. [Edited 9/3/10 12:37pm]

I miss the secret messages in the run-out groove of vinyl platters. I don't remember Prince having anything that great scribbled on his LPs, but my old punk records were a hoot. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
