DO U LIE in all my dreams? So I'm listening to "All My Dreams", one of my favorite boots. I get to the weird bridge section with the funky traveling bass line (where Wendy hands the brush to Lisa to paint the side of the train).
Then it hits me - this sort of sounds familiar. Then I think about Under The Cherry Moon, in the part where Tricky reveals Christopher's plan to marry Mary for 50,000,000. It's out front of the club, La Pavillion, and Mary yells, "DO U LIE?!", then storms off. That weird bass line there - is that the same bass line from the aforementioned "All My Dreams" segment?
I don't have my UTCM DVD closer, or I'd reference it myself.

They do sound similar. I think All My Dreams might be a little more sped up. That "plot revelation" segment seems to be a tad slower... but I'm not watching UTCM at this very moment. lol
Good catch though.
On a side note, All My Dreams is amazing!!
Play my record double speed, you'll feel a climax fit for a queeeeeeeeen! The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

I remember the slower tempo in the movie, so maybe it's not the same.
I love "All My Dreams". It has that circus/sideshow type feel to it. It would have been such a better, and more upbeat, ending song in the UTCM movie. "Mountains" just doesn't cut it for me. It works even more because the "video" w/ the credits is in the clouds.

Ah ... I love 'Mountains', I remember who I was with and what I was doing when I last saw that video back when I first remember seeing it. If I'm not mistaken between 86 and late 88 all the music we know and love seems to be in the same vein and has the same sound. Wasn't 'Dream Factory' and 'Roadhouse Garden' music composed by Wendy & Lisa with Prince? Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Cool catch. But you're not going to make me watch Under The Cherry Moon. [img:$uid]http://anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/ugone2far10.gif[/img:$uid] If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yeah, I always thought of the music there as being the Train that Lisa paints with her brush (the piano). The Bassline is very much that of a Train and you can even hear the train whistle in the background. Very brilliant idea and song.

My wife loves it, but I had unintentional laughing fits when I watched it. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

To me, this is the song where The Beatles' influence sounded pronounced. From the background vocals down to the lyrics...esp in the part where sings A submarine valiantly conquers a virgin sea/A child is born, a child is born, will U marry me?.
And I loved Lisa's solo, I swear the woman is an underrated pianist to the highest order. I imagine it must've been hard to decide what song they should've kept in "Parade" - I love Mountains but I understand the decision to keep it, had they went with "All My Dreams", it would've ruined the configuration of the album, great as it is, it didn't sound like it belonged there without "Old Friends 4 Sale" which segued with it.

Don't really agree with the last part of your statement. Many songs were moved around in album configurations and it works fine. O4FS was due to be on the album, and isn't it listed in the credits? Or no?
Anyway, the question isn't about the album. It's about the scene in the movie I mentioned.

I watched the scene tonight at a friend's house. Pulled it up on her Netflix on her Vizio Bluray player. FF'd to that scene. Although the bass line seems "slower", the tempo clicking behind it seems to be faster than "All My Dreams". Still weird though, and not sure what song it is playing in that scene.
