He's had 5 complete masterpieces since Sign, namely (in order):

The Black album

Lovesexy

Exodus

The Truth (heavily underrated)

The Rainbow Children

Lotusflow3r could've been in there if he hadn't included The Morning After/Crimson & Clover & 4ever.

Easy, the very next one: The Black Album razz

...is the right answer.

After that "Lovesexy" is patchily good (also patchily bad), but the remainder since then aren't worth bothering with by and large.

The Black Album

The Gold Experience

The Rainbow Children

Lotusflow3r

I often wonder where Prince would have gone musically had he released The Black Album and not Lovesexy. Although I like some elements of Lovesexy (some gorgeous songs on there) for me it was his first release that sounded "sloppy".
