I'd have to say its between Rain and Kiss. For me, I'd have to go with Kiss. Mainly because growing up I'd always see the video on, that one or Raspberry Beret. You know, the slicked back hair and the stash

Also, if anyone has that picture of Prince with a entirely purple suit, taken from the parade era, post it. Cant find it anywhere.

The "looks" of Purple Rain and Parade are vastly different in most ways. His hair wasn't slicked back in "Raspberry Beret" either. Go watch it again.

The best known look by far is the Controversy/1999/Purple Rain look. Purple coat, big huge eyes, drawn on 'stache, jerry curl, weird shoulder armor thing, and ruffles.

I'd say any Prince image that's been parodied several times (like on In Livin Color and SNL) is the look that comes first to people's minds. So it's like a combination of the curly hair hanging from the top of a head wrap/scarf, a white frilly shirt, and a pair of extra long silk flared-leg suit pants.

To me, Prince's classic look would definitely be the 1999/Purple Rain era ~ gorgeous

Don't get snippy. I asked you a question - let me ask it again: Can you clarify what you're wanting to ask or know? The term "official or classic look" isn't quite clear, at least regarding Prince. He's iconized so many. Is it the purple coat in Purple Rain? The short cropped hair in the mid 80's? Or the long scruffy look of the late 80's or early 90's? Slave across his face? I'm not sure you can pigeon hole Prince w/ that, really.

What comes to mind with Michael Jackson as far as looks? Everything from a white glove, to long wavy hair, to a military jacket, to a very clean look, to a subtle look w/ a tad of flair that even Tim Gunn could appreciate.

Who gives a shit what he looks like?

If 'Hot Toys' were to make a doll of Prince (like they do so well with MJ) i think it'd have to be the look in Purple Rain. Easily his most iconic look and one joe public immediately recognises.
