20TEN is actually cooler because it's so-hard-to-get!

I was blasting 20TEN in my car. People on the street were actually grooving to it.

A guy pulled along me and gave the music a big thumbs up!

Pretty freaking cool.

I would think here in L.A. there's probably less than a hundred people who have it. When I bought it at Amoeba the checkout girl told me ONE other person bought it.

So, now it's my duty to blast the funky new PRINCE CD!

Hallelujah!

Probably not. My cashier said only one other person bought it; they do have many cashiers. Plus I know people on here have/and or bought it. But, still....they had maybe 20 copies. Second Spin never heard of it. And really I'm pretty hardcore and I didn't have it until a day ago. How many people here could really have it?

Do you mean the actual CD or downloaded it online? Someone emailed me a link to the download July 9. I don't even think it had been distributed in the newspaper at that point, a day later I think it was. I wasn't "so-hard-to-get".

Actual CD is "hard-to-get." I never suggested it's hard to download.

There is an aire of unatainableness that intrigues me, I admit, and now Iknow what the European fans were dealing with when the US had the Lotus rose album available, I'm just patient either which way the ball goes a bouncing, like four square square

Yeah. Or like the "original release" of the Black Album.

Yeah it was hard to get. I had to spend about 90 seconds on an internet that Prince killed, and used my paypal account. I got it in the mail about 4 days later. In fact, I didn't even see any other posts about it until I made one. Somebody replying to my post said they had it bfore I did...so if someone had it before me...it is EASY to get. Some strange hard to understand technology called British Royal Air Mail. I probably could've done that without all the education I've had. Hell, it's harder to find a WRECK A STOW than it is to get 20Ten. Cds are sold at Wall Maht, Tahget, Best Bi, and maybe a few other places. The dead internet thingy is much easier.

What confuses me is why Prince didn't just place it on Dr Funkenberry's website for download.

He's giving it away for free, it's being distributed for free by fans, and even non-Prince fans are sharing the album just to spite his ridiculous claim "The Internet is Over"

Shit, I've got a physical copy and I'm in Thailand! lol

Any way you slice and dice it, he could making more money selling online than giving it away.

Though, I think distributing it through newspapers is a very clever way of growing his audience though. People are bound to listen to it just because it's there.

Yes it was easy to download the 20TEN album set, once I was given the correct link 2 do so. But getting the actual cd was a bit tricky for me. I asked a few complete strangers on MoQuake.com and sweet lady on FaceBook. To my suprise a week later two copies of 20TEN were in my mailbox. God bless the generous nature of the Prince fans in the UK. Its great to download an album online that not many fans have here in the USA, but nothing beats having the real CD in your hands, when it wasn't released in America (yet).

Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!

Not trying to be a jerk, but the cd was released in Europe on like the 8th. It has not been released in this country yet. You have two copies. I don't understand where it is that hard to get. I admit I was stunned to get mine on the 16th or 17th here in Florida, but the year is 2010, not 1810. There were something like 2.5 million of these babies pressed up, and given away. Those funny airplane thingees fly said cd over the ocean, and into mailboxes. The Daily Rear View Mirror had so many they were offering them on their website on that internet that Prince killed. Now that takes great detective work: Uh, let's see...the Daily is distributing the Cd, and I still don't have it in the USA...uh what should I do? Uh,,, do an internet search!!! I'm a genius!!!

Ok, sorry 4 all the sarcasm. To show I can poke fun at myself...I ordered one on Old Bay Seasonings, and got it on the 16th or 17th. I was not thinking it would ship so fast, so I ordered one from the Mirror as well, and now will have extra copies. If someone tells Prince that it hasn't been released in the USA yet, it could be released, and my copies will be like all those extra copies of Musicology I got from attending 7 shows in 2004. (The 7 I was given, and the 37 I found on the floor after the shows.)

You do have a point 'stillwaiting', how hard is 20TEN to get for a die-hard American fan? Not that hard at all IF you do your homework. The newspaper that released it is still offering it 2 anyone that really wants it. Within minutes I was also able to get 'Hot Summer' and 'Cause And Effect' to make 20TEN a more complete set on my iPod and cd-r for my room and car.

With the war Prince waged against WB, I just feel like why release a 9-10 track album? As much music as Prince makes and has in the vaults, why not release 20-30 song albums from now on?

I have a few friends that are professionals but also Prince fans. However, they're not plugged in to "alternative" methods of getting stuff.

I've made them copies of "20Ten" and they know it's not available here. They also know I got it from a friend in Europe.

They think I'm the coolest cat on the planet.

(Please don't tell them different.)

They gave away TWO POINT THREE MILLION COPIES of it in the UK alone. Which is about five times as much as Prince sells worldwide.

But apparently buying it on eBay is too frikking hard.

Yeah, and how much they'll love to listen to that mediocre dirge. You know, the same people who apparently didn't become fans after hearing his biggest hits.

This is different Bart. 'Everybody Loves Me' and 'Laydown' is his best material in 23 years, and you know it.

Also, the DECISION to buy the CD ALSO makes it hard-to-get. I ONLY went out and bought a copy when it clearly looked like no U.S. release date is imminent.

I bet it will turn up as a giveaway when/if Prince does a U.S. tour; a copy with every ticket.

I've already explained several times why, as a American, I should not be forced to purchase the new Prince cd from another country via eBay. ABSURD.
