"everybody loves me" is a fabulous song.

"20ten" is amongst his 10 very best, exciting records ever.

I thought it was tripe on first listen. And then I found I kept singing the bloody thing. I reckon Prince knew what he was doing with this one and that's why those of us with a good ear now think it's a work of genius that only he can muster.

So much on this album is critically comparable to Sign O the Times it's unbelievable. This is my opinion and not anyone else's remember. But I do have exceptional taste so bear in the mind that if you don't like it then it's you not the record.

Well, if one was bored enough to look for my previous posts, I had been lukewarm to most of 20Ten. I like most of it a lot now. Even Everybody Loves Me! The Purple Yoda line may never quite be my cup of tea, but even that song has some decent music, once you get past the cliche-ridden beat, and the cheeseball lyrics. Prince is by far my favorite, but he does slip up with the Cheeseball lyric thing. Wedding Feast anyone? Anyways, to be fair and positive, if you can accept the fact that 1999, Purple Rain, SOTT, and Lovesexy can never happen again, you've got a bunch of fun music again. If you can't deal with it, please don't suffer like Bart Van Halen, who must hate Prince more than anyone on this site, yet he continues to spend every waking moment looking for someone to correct, and looking for someone to argue about how much he hates every single Prince move since like 1986. smile

I'm the guy who says Prince is too talented to waste his time and energy on the crap he's been releasing for the past 15 years; you're the guy who says Prince has lost it long ago. And *I* am called the hater?

bart you have posting on this forum as long if not longer than me....i think you once said you became a fan after seeing the lovesexy concert which was beamed across europe....?......so when did you think prince 'lost it' ?....and are we talking in the studio or live as well ?.....just curious as i cant believe that you havent heard one single good track from prince in the last 15 to 20 years or whatever you think is the cut off point....we all know you are a huge fan.... smile

U can tell this is sone of the songs Prince just composed on the piano just for fun and said, "Hey, I wonder how every body would react if I put this on an album," and he did, lol. I totally got the joke aspect of it and its halirious. I laugh with him. And yes, it did grow on me. Its my mom's fav song on the album because it's funny, reminds her of Sesame Street, and is the most memorable, lol. I kinda agree wink

Cute song, surprising, but adorable attempt

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

I think I may have said that you said Prince lost it long ago. If I said something like that, I simply made a mistake, for mistake's sake. Yes, I am not into his lyrics on the last few releases, but believe Lotus Flow3r is a great album, maybe even worth the $77 I paid for it and a shirt I have lost enough weight to fit in. I think 3121, Planet Earth, and 20Ten are very good, with sometime great moments.

Now, I could be wrong, as I am talented with making mistakes...but Bart, I think you either hate or really dislike each and every recent release so much, you should consider being a fan of all those other over 40 or over 50 artists making better music than Prince. (Maybe a topic for another thread, but why is it that Pop/Rock artists usually have their best work from about the ages of 25 to 39??) Also, why is it that Jazz artists seem to have better luck in their old age?

I would love to see the look on Wendy & Lisa after they listened to this, I think that would be Priceless!

A Revolution reunion would be awesome as an episode of A&E's show Intervention with everybody on a couch crying listening to 20ten telling him how much they love him. lol

Cuz they've never recorded silly songs? C'mon... he's having fun. Nothing wrong with that. Its silly, but I kinda like it...

Change it one more time..

Think for a minute. Where is 20Ten relessed. Britan France Germany 20Ten is European pop music. targeted for the countries where is it was released. It would have a more American sound if it were released in the U.S.A. besides with Prince being a Jehovah's Witness his music changed to refelct it. he still knows how to put on an amazing live show. Prince is only human. He has some hits and misses. That is part of life.

This is a very catchy song indeed. I was walking through the house singing it & my wife says "I could see this song on a kids show or Sesame St." it's very cute!

thats the worst song he has EVER done!! and its the Gayest!! This song is an embarrassment to Prince's talent

Well as a resident gay I refuse to claim that song. Hahaha no it's not horrible but it's probably my least favorite on 20Ten. It's bouncy but it's another "look how great I am" song. Yawn. "I rock therefore I am" at least had a cooler title lol.

When I played the cd for my partner in the car I said "and this song is called "Denial".

Ok mean but he laughed smile

I don't hate it thought. I dunno it is kinda funny. But then Laydown blows it away afterwards smile

*rolls eyes at "that's so gay"*

I hate this happy Mickey Mouse song, it's childish and it's pure garbage, mind you this is the same guy that has written Adore! WTF happened?! Although I've seen it I still can't believe he played this song live recently and let the audience chant those unbelievably corny lyrics. Again, WTF?!

I get the vibe that if you like The Rainbow Children, you are more likely to dig ELM, true?

Are these the anchovies of Prince fandom?

I like the quirky nature of the song and the message. After all if you don't love yourself.....

I love it.
