Funky, Funky, FUNKAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! I don't know what else to say than that! This is the Prince I've loved since I was 5 years old right here. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Is it the glue he made from Bria's hooves? Take it - like Clarence said:
"I got a million of them - all different U know."

No, just Mani when he "put her out to pasture".

Dancing helps relieve the pain. Soothes your mind, makes you happy again!!!

I like it....a lot... at first I found the 1979 bridge did not mesh well with the 1982 verses but its all good now...

the rap has been stuck in my head for the last few days!
". . . the closer u got to me, the less we saw alright..." How can I stand 2 stay where I am? / Poor butterfly who don't understand.

after another listening session. I've found another change in the lyricx I think.
Bright blue eyes staring down in2 mine saying

This and "Lavaux" are the highlights of the album for me, and are the funkiest and catchiest songs he's done in a long time, IMO. I haven't been able to get these songs out of my head since I first listened to the album on friday. I must hear these live.

Loving this TUNE!!
Heavens above the last quarter of the song P goes into funk overdrive! The chickenscratch guitar, The harmonies, The keyboard bassline The vocal arrangements, his story telling and the build to the end....
Im STILL groving to this jam as I type!
(I forgive the rap for the time being, as it doesnt pull this awesome song down.) One minute they want peace……
Then do everything to make it go away.

Anyone actually like the rap now? haha. It's one of the aspects of the album that has gotten better with repeated listens.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I like it because its sounds more like a 70s/early 80s rap than the 90s dirty south thing he tries in Laydown (which is surprisingly works well there too).

I thought it was fine from the outset. It's so easy-breezy and lighthearted I couldn't help but smile. I was surprised (shocked, really) by the response it provoked...over-the-top and borderline ridiculous, IMO. But then, this is the org so...
I just know that I'm crazy about this cut. It reminds me so much of the SOTT era. GENIUS funk-pop!!! A definite contender for best-of-the-album honors.

Me likey. If Timberlake released this as a single, it'd be at no.1
If he could be arsed releasing a single, this should be it. Funky, smooth, catchy no-bullshit lyrics (for the first time for me on the album)
I don't even mind the dumb-ass rap.
Loving it

I can NOT stop listening to this track. Earlier today, I made a playlist of other Prince songs that remind me of THIS song, that have that same vibe. So damn good.
