the vocals are great, luv the groove of the song...it was bold of him to add that rap/speaking line...but damn, this is a great song. ooooo, the rhythm guitar is so crispy like fresh lettuce

Some people say that he has never done a good rap, but what about in "Incense and Candles," "New Power Soul," and "Muse 2 the Pharoah." Not to mention some other songs like "Illusion, Coma, Pimp, and Circumstance" where practically the whole song is a rap/spoken word..I think those are good raps..y'all are just becoming too provincial to change your styles along with him.

Very cool tune. This one could be a hit if he still cared about that sort of thing...

I like the throw-back effect of his earlier offerings...that is a nice nod to his legacy. Not the same conviction in his voice but it is nice...and I like the ending of the song where he gets more into it musically and vocally...one of the strongest songs on this offering IMO!

i think this might be my favorite song from the new record .. its not that any phrase stands out so much but i just love the slinky funk sound .. reminds me a lot of the jacksons and there are a few other things on the record that have the same vibe .. sounds like he is paying tribute to a certain influencial period of music .. i could go on but i'll just say i love it .. its the kind of song that makes me go back and listen to the whole record again because even if i dont love all the songs i know im gonna get to hear this one

I agree with you on this one! I just got my CD copy in the mail today and I am listening for a second time to Sticky Like Glue and liking it better the second time...it's really sticking to me! In fact, if a single were released from this (which I know it won't) I would suggest this one. What did you think of "EVerybody Loves ME"? I really, really didn't like it at all... Thought it didn't belong with the other songs--like a passive/aggressive children's song!

Thanks for posting! Great list! I especially like the inclusion of Extra Lovable, Mutiny and Screams of Passion. Somehow I can definitely hear those along side Sticky Like Glue.

i like everybody loves me .. it reminds me of sheryl crows all i wanna do is have some fun .. its super catchy .. reminds me of 'all my dreams" in a way .. i can hear it being in a tv comercial .. kinda like those cutesy katy allen comercials .. except this would likely be better pushing booze .. then again i'd have to gouge my eyes out if prince ever sold his song for a beer comercial .. still if ever there were a song for that i think everybody loves me is the one ...

I really can't say enough about this song. It should be called "Guitar Lesson," because that's what it is. His playing is just so razor fucking sharp. Lesser players must just get angry when they hear it.

Especially the part where "ya might wanna dig me later..." kicks in. Is it a complicated riff? No. But is it played so "in the pocket" that there's fucking lint on it? HELL YES. It's just one of those inimitable "Prince Moments." You get that tingle in your stomach when you hear it which tells you he's on another level. Kind of like when verse 2 of "Sexual Suicide" kicks in. "Baby...if ya only knew..." SICK.

Another thing about the funk in this track. I think one of his band members during the 93-95 NPG era was talking about funk. And how it's not the notes, but the spaces in between them that makes something funky. I can't think of a better song in the Prince cannon that exemplifies this. Listen to his use of space in this song. There are split seconds where there's not even any sound coming out of your speakers. It makes everything around those empty spaces just jump right out. It really takes a master (a purple Jedi master?) to be able to do that the way he does.

I had my iTunes on shuffle the other day and this song came on right after "Wonderful Ass." I've long sung the praises of "Wonderful Ass" because I think it's a quintessential document of Prince's mid-80s funk sound. And I have to say....hearing "Sticky Like Glue" right after "Wonderful Ass" really showcases the inferiority of "Wonderful Ass." Musically, it sounds like the composition of an 8th grader followed by one which was made by a college professor. Not even a comparison.

This would be a hit if released properly as a single. No doubt. This is one of the reasons I am glad that Prince still gives us new music. Catchy and quite unique. I have not heard a Prince song like this before.

This was definitely a grower for me, too! It is now my favorite song on the album!

For me this song has more interesting guitar moments than any other song on the album.

Okay, so...on the first reply to this thread, I said there was something about this track that reminded me of Dorothy Parker. This morning, I'm listening to the actual disc that a kind soul sent from England, and what a surprise to hear Prince say...

That's some today's type delivery of lyrics. He really should turn off the radio and stop slumming with the current trash because it's rubbing off on him. It would be a great instrumental though because like I said before, the music sounds great.

The song had grown on me too. Him and his partner are hard to separate from each other Other than "Lavaux" it was my least favorite. But I like the rap, the fact that his raps are short and sweet makes me stay interested. Plus it's never bad to hear Prince speak

Really??? I'm pretty sure this would have been the one WB got mad at him over b/c he'd get it out to radio stations early and force them to release the album sooner than they'd planned, lol.

He's got such a smooth funk on this...the guitar, the rhythm...harmony, the vamp... it works. Breezy enough to be poppy, Stevie enough to grab an old head... it just works! Favorite line: "Don'tchu think I ain't, when I ieah" lol. Yeah, that, my friends is pure coffee right there, not cream.

Hilarious! The first time I heard it, I thought he said, "I'm just a friend of your mother's," but you definitely topped me! Love this song though. It's my 2nd fave on the album. The first is Future Soul Song.
