Fantastic. 'Soldier of Love' incorporated into a Prince idea. Brilliant song. Superb synths... just magic. I do believe that Prince just remembered where he left his career, in 1988.

I dig that Soldier of Love connection. Using the snare rolls as the main beat is a really cool thing.

I haven't voiced my opinions as of yet on the new album because I've been busy listening and digesting.

Having done that extensively, I can say with some certainty that in my opinion,

this is one of Prince's best songs in many a year. It transcends the album for me and

ranks alongside some of his best work.

The synth line is just exquisite and I can't really fault the production overall.

My main criticism would be the lyrical content but I have always been of the opinion

that a really decent Prince lyric is a fairly rare thing so I can live with that.

The second half of the song really takes lift and I just can't stop playing it!

I love the way he says Beginning Endlessly at 4:53!

Totally agree

Listened to the album a few times but its this song that has me hooked.

It stands out as being much more intricate than the others.

Love it.

anyone else think the keyboards around 3:30 are straight out of "When Doves Cry"

They are a generic reading of "In a Large Room with No Light" intro.

I think the song is about living in the present moment.. It has a spiritual meaning.. Beginning Endlessly

Maybe every shining star is just another part

If you and I could ever open up our dirty hearts...

It's about letting the ego go..Be free of the limitations of ur mind.

I read the book "The Power Of Now" by Eckhart Tolle en I think it is based on those ideas. Living constantly in the present, free of ur ego and so beginning endlessly, over and over again..

anyone else feel like the synth run, before the funk guitar chords kick in, sounds like music from "Who Wants to be a Millionare?"

I do love the song though.

i suport the work of Eckhart Tolle, but this song doesnt align with his work, in my perception of it

"love is too small a word for what you feel for me" < the lyrics are written from an egoic perspective

"love is too small a word for what i feel for you" < now that is a nice lyric because it indicates GIVING to the person he is speaking about,

instead of a TAKING by focussing the lyric on himself and what HE wants her to think and do.

i appreciate Prince's attempts at capturing and expressing the ETERNAL - but unfortunately his EGO tends to get in the way

he may indeed hold the ETERNAL in his own heart, but he seems to relate everything to himself

Eckhart Tolle is a brilliant writer and teacher - somehow a song about the selfish use of eternal principles doesn't capture the real meaning of INFINITY, imo.

yes I love this song, it's high in the top five of 2010 for me. My interpretation is that he's amazed by the love he feels when being loved by this person. I think he's complimenting the 'vastness' of her love, that it's bigger than both of them, and so awesome it that feels larger than 'love.' I think it's a humble statement, not coming from the ego. imo heart

I really like this song, it's my 4th favorite on the cd. Initially, it was my 2nd favorite. Laydown was my favorite from the start. But after listening to Act of GOD and Lavaux more, I like them better. But Beginning Endlessly is a funky track and I'm loving it. In fact, I LOVE the entire ablum. Proud of Prince, the man still amazes me with his awesome music after all these years!!! biggrin
