To answer your original question, why post all the same, it is because I knew that whatever I posted, good or bad, someone would not be able to help themselves and have to respond. Just prove that *ssholes are only on here to stir up trouble. If you remember my original post, I said nothing about anyone or about anything anyone else wrote. So, is a person allowed to post what they want in the forums? Apparently not, if they offend the certain few who believe that they are here to point out what "they" think is dumb or not. I apologize for my original comment on the song for offending you so bad. As far as "Timmy"... just another person here who thinks too much of themselves. [Edited 7/12/10 6:54am] |

Classic Prince first song on an album.
Who is the real Prince? The evil troll from TRC or this open, fun and friendly guy here? |

It's Prince, he doesn't have to make songs that sound like his previous work. Trust that he has the ability to avoid doing so if he desires. That one-two-one-two-one-two driving drum pattern - he's used it way too many times. And he's used it too many times with the loud splashy synth lines. Regardless, the most important part of my previous comment is that this attempt doesn't stack up to the previous goes at this type of song. I think this is the most obvious attempt at sounding like himself, but retro, on the entire album. Which actually makes me a little uncomfortable. Lastly, it's not weighty. Got no meat on the bones. Sounding VAGUELY like something he's done before, cool. Sounding blatantly like something from 81-87, but not as good, just doesn't work for me. Even after all that I wouldn't come close to putting it in the same category as Everybody Loves Me. *shivers*

You'd sound a lot more convincing if you hadn't been behaving like a troll. You weren't posting comments as part of honest discourse. You were posting the same exact comment on 10 threads. If it's pointless for you to post then why choose behavior that would get you noticed in the first place? People will recognize it when someone is being contrary, etc...
It seems the options here are not to post, because you don't want to deal with disagreeable responses, or to post and ignore the members that you feel are just out to criticize, or whatever... |

your music is like your handwriting. no matter how many ways u try to change it, experts would b able to tell its u. same with his music or anyone else's [the stones, beattles. stevie wonder] its still going to b a variation of u. prince cant change that after so many albums. maybe the 1st 10, after that they r all going to sound semi alike. thats just the way music is. only so much u can do to change your style. even mozart . stickman |

Not being able to change your style is one thing. Choosing to create a song that sounds nearly identical to five others is something altogether different. That was a concious decision that he could habe easily avoided. |

That may b true, he may have done this on purpose. but he still would have to sound like prince, which means it was going 2 have some flavor off one of his many albums. and nothing is wrong with being yourself. in fact i like when he does'nt try to make a drastic change from who he is. but i get your point. stickman |

Around The World In A Day, LoveSexy, and all are identifiable as Prince albums but they are pretty much like comparing earth, air, and fire otherwise. Even the tracks contained within can pretty much be identified with a specific era or album. Prince never had any trouble being "who he is" while still exploring all sorts of sounds, styles, etc...
These days there's not a lot of variety going on. It's not a matter of Prince just sticking to sounding like who he is. The "who he is" right now is someone exhibiting virtually no new growth or direction. You could take tracks from Musicology (2004) through 20TEN, jumble them up, and make random new albums without much detriment to the course he's plotted over those years. |

Just got back of holiday, so pretty much everything I write will probably have already have been said by others, but herre's my thoughts anyway.
Compassion. hmm...
Let's pretend we're married by the cast of Glee? Like the sounds, yeah it's been done before, but it's still enjoyable. Lyrics are clunky and a bit too candy floss for me.
Still, so much better than the last 3 tracks released so that's a good sign for me...
Gives me hope for this album. blah blah blah |

My least favourite on the album, only the 'skin you're in' bit makes it half decent for me. Not a good opener for a very good album |

Compassion sounds like the kids' show The doodlebops should be singing LOL! Um... let me warm up my vocals

Seeing the lyrics written like that make this song more even laughable. And that's before comparing it to past P songs... • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
