On my Facebook today, someone posted a pic of them wearing a 1999:The New Master t-shirt. I then started thinking about what is your list of HORRIBLE Prince songs.

PLEASE DON'T MAKE THIS A BAD THREAD! JUST POST UR OPINIONS.

For me:

1999: The New Master

Purple and Gold

Three Chains O' Gold

Wedding Feast (even though I love the album)

A great choice!

What is Purple and Gold though? I've never heard of that song. God, I feel ashamed that there is a Prince song I've not heard of!

You've made me feel dirty!

yes

It's a song he made for The Minnesota Vikings. It is a fight song in the tradition of "traditional school fight songs",it was on the internet and he was bashed by everyone for it.

Stand Up! Everybody, this is your life!

For me, and this is just me, the worst ones would be:

Positivity

Around the World in a Day

Funny how taste can differ: those are 2 of my favorite songs! Not the best but really really good.

No disrespect to whomever is posting here: Prince is such a diverse artist that many people value his work very differently, which IMO is a good thing.

U don't like the Rave album? It's not my favorite album by him, but there are some really good songs on there (to me, anyway).

I too like the Rave album over all. What annoys me about it is the lost potential for radio play, poor lead single, lazy video releases, and utter loss of interest in the project. When he played Rave songs on the Rave PPV special, it's almost like he was doing it because he had to, not because he wanted to, in some cases.

And when you edit Larry Graham's chant out of "everyday is a winding road", well...it's even better.

Maybe it could have been better with Tony M. singin the line instead,,,heheheheheheheheehehe:lol: lol

Purple & Gold

His version of Everyday Is a Winding Road is not bad but Larry Graham ruins the song for me

Everybody Loves Me ( lol )

Everybody Loves Me

I will rank these....in their own lists...

A-List:
1.Annie Christian-How this profound song could be on anybodys F list...I have no idea. The live version was even more breath-taking. The 80's was a careless decade but artists like Prince and U2 were not afraid to make political tracks that provoked thought, even if you didn't like their politics, or opinions of.

2.Around the World in a Day-weird, different, and funky.

3.Tambourine-wow! Another great track showing that Prince's album was too funky to be compared to Sgt Pepper.

4.Temptation-sure it may drag a bit, but this was Prince being all too at ease with his Sex vs Religion act, and it still sounds like a great track to me.
5.Scandalous-The one classic Prince ballad on Batman, and much better than the 3rd single, Arms of Orion.
6.Love Like Jazz-One day, I might rank this a little higher, but can't put it ahead of the 5 classics ahead of it here. Prince releases an album full of rock guitar, and has this sometimes sappy, sometimes weird, great piece of music in the middle. Just like Chaos and Disorder, another Prince album ignored by many, even ignored by some "real fans" Lotus Flow3r.

Torn Between A and B List:
1.Curious Child-nice slow song from Emancipation...and it works better than the previous years "Shy" from TGE.
2.Tick Tick Bang-I think I like the original version recorded around Controversy/1999 a little better, but it's a damn good song either way.
3.Lemon Crush-just not enough to hit the A-List, but another fun song from Batman.

B-List:
1.Compassion-nice opener for 20Ten, probably could've been about 40 seconds shorter, but I still like it.

2. Insatiable-great song, but it just doesn't hit me too well, like a lot of DAP.
3.Sea of Everything-nice little ballad, but pales in comparison to Future Soul Song, and Walk in Sand from 20Ten.

4. Mr. Happy-another somewhat good song from Emancipation...

C-List:
1.Incense and Candles-too much Auto Tune/Tone for my tastes, but worth a listen every now and then. I admit I skip when I jam the 3121 cd, though.
2.Silly Game-Probably suffers from being on the same cd with Eye Love U, But I don't trust U. I probably owned Rave 4 about 3 weeks before I had listened to it more than once.
3.Shoo-Bed-Ooh-starts out ok, but really just a B-side that Prince let show up on an album.
4. Everybody Loves Me-Starts out like the old 1999 Era outtake "Turn It Up," until it goes "Barney" on us. It's a fun song, that I woulda put on the B-List if it were 40-70 sec shorter without that "It ain't nothin 2 it but 2 do it" hack ending.
D-List:
Life O' the Party-What may have seemed like a good idea went wrong. Sounds like a demo that shoulda stayed in demo-hell.

F-List:
Jughead-do I have to explain this one? The music isn't really so bad, but to me, this song is what my absolute hatred of Tony M is all about. I remember him and Damon, and Kirk wearing those Star Trek Next Generation outfits looking so lame, and getting to be on stage with the best artist of my generation. Embarrassing. The "Mr Money Minder" Speech at the end still sounds about as dumb as can be. I guess the logic works both ways....It is not ok for a label to worry about profit, but it is ok to rip off fans for $77 bad websites, and $20 Face Down Cassette Tapes? Oh, 4get it!!!

That was very well thought out and a much larger response than my post probably deserved. However, they are all still bad songs to me. A few notes:

-I have no opinion of the politics of Annie Christian, the song just bores me.

-comparing ATWIAD to Sgt. Pepper in any way is silly.

-Scandalous and Insatiable both drag ALOT, that's why I dislike them.

-I actually like Lotusflow3r quite a bit, as well as Chaos and Disorder, however Lotusflow3r would be better without Love Like Jazz.

-Shy is 10 times better than Curious Child, in my opinion.

-I've tried to listen to Compassion 20 times, it still sounds like someone with less talent trying to emulate the early 80's Prince sound, and failing.

-I also agree that of the songs on my list, Jughead is easily the worst one.

That was very well thought out and a much larger response than my post probably deserved. Well, just off of the top of my head in about 2 minutes..

However, they are all still bad songs to me. A few notes:

-I have no opinion of the politics of Annie Christian, the song just bores me. Well, there is probably someone out there who hates it with you...smile

-comparing ATWIAD to Sgt. Pepper in any way is silly. I wasn't comparing them, just noting that everyone else compares them, but would say if you had to choose one Prince album to compare it to, it would be the obvious choice. Nobody would compare Sgt Pepper to Purple Rain...so I would not say it is silly to compare them.
