It's to Prince's credit I guess that nearly every song someone considers bad there are a handful of defenders in support of it. He has a diverse fan base.

I get the hate for "My Name Is Prince," but I love that rolling, thundering bass line. It's a hypnotic groove to me, and I can handle that song because of it.

I'm not a huge fan of big chunks of "The Truth" album. I have no problem with acoustic music, and I can appreciate what he did with it, but the lyrics are often preachy and self-indulgent (a sign of things to come). Still, "Comeback" and "One Of Your Tears" are some favorites from that record.

Things like N.E.W.S. and Xpectation hold no interest for me. Dreary elevator music for the most part. Some of the N.E.W.S. songs have bright moments, but he buried them in bloated 14 minute tracks.

This is exactly what I think! Everybody loves the inappropriate music, but I think that's where the quality gets a little rocky.

"Arrogance" is no kind of grade A material. It's a sore thumb on that album the way "Jughead" is on D&P. I took it (them) out of iTunes, and I never miss them.

I have a feeling Jack Nicholson might disagree with U about, "Arrogance." It was supposed to be used 4 the Joker...But wasn't.

There's almost always a stinker on an album that I feel like skipping past. Overall, most of the 1978-1989 stuff I can take full on, even if I don't care for one much over the other. It's the later stuff where the list gets big.

I can see why people dont like "wedding feast" but I always saw it more as a segue than a song , plus he was trying to be funny.

Also, "Purple&Gold" wasnt really released or on any album, but I can see why folk dont like it.
