A release date? I understand the Prince article is only available 'german' rolling stone? Not UK/USA one?
I guess we'll hear about the new album on defunkbery or some other media source. Hot Summer was mediocre track, hope there are better 'old school' songs on album.
lotus flower was a commercial failure, wont supply an album available for download again.

Prince has a REALLY long neck. You didn't know that? Why do you think he wears all those turtle necks and stuff that always hides his neck. I noticed this a long time ago. And, when you do a charicature of someone, you emphasize those types of things. I think he's probably quite self-conscious about it... |

How exciting. If P had any confidence in this music, and it was indeed still worthy of him, he'd want to release this Worldwide in as many countries as possible at the same time to create buzz. As he's probably been paid a massive suitcase of money by stupid owners of magazines in a few Euro countries, he's not bothering.
No doubt, he'll make the $ he's after, they'll write their headline on the front, perpetuating the myth that he's still important/relevant/groundbreaking. People will pop in the CD. Once. Realise he's pretty crap now (apart from one or two songs. Tops), and come on here to moan.
And the viscious cycle starts again.
I'll get it for free and negate all the bullshit.

i think it's great he releases his music in ways no one else does,
my only discomfort is his inadvertent support of the 'lets rape rainforests' industry (newspapers)
versus the marginally (and growing) more environmentally friendly option of online release (as more people switch to solar-powered, green energy homes).
i respect his innovative approach to music distribution, just not sure of his stance on environmental concerns,
which might be relevant in light of songs like Mr Man, and his conscious awareness of the fragile biosphere of Planet Earth.
in regards to the CD title and tracklist, will wait until the release before i consider either as confirmed. this too shall pass |

Don't need to. Every word i type here makes sense, but then i'm devoid of stupidity. Prince is taking the piss out of his remaining fanbase.
Go see him live in concert, he's still pretty good but he's pretty much an 'oldies' artist now.
Done.

I wont mind if the music is good but this this type of moves just oozes with retardation.
He wont make any profit and the people who want a physical copy of the album are going 2 be fighting over leftovers on ebay or paying 210 dollars to join the new website.
I was looking forward 2 his new album but this is just stupid as fuck.
I hope he doesnt mind when I upload it on youtube 4 every1
I am sure he will find a retailer or find a mag to put it out in the states. He will make money off of the CD because the mags and newspapers pay him upfront my guess is he may be making more money than other artist on major labels. How is that stupid and why do you care anyway. |

I've noticed that a lot of orgers need for Prince to be back on the top of the charts and selling millions of CDs for their own validation. Prince has basically found new ways of getting the music into the hands of those who want it. If you want the CD then you'll get it one way or the other. How the world reacts to his distribution methods is irrelevant. Prince fans should simply be happy that he's putting out new music for them to enjoy and leave it at that. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! |

Right - Prince is an independent pioneer and that means get to the top of the establishment's charts is a longer and less direct route. It is not required. Prince doesnt need it. He gets the music to the people who want it. And he retains full ownership of it - the most important thing. He also retains all of his freedom to do whatever he wants whenever he wants - the most important thing to true Prince fans in my humble opinion. Those fans who can not understand that the greatness of his new work has nothing to do with where it is on the charts are simply missing this entire concept. The fact that most of his more recent albums have popped into the unpper ranks of the charts is nothing short of remarkable cosidering the unconventional and independent approach that Prince has the power to yield. He is doing without a record company. And its cool only like Prince can be cool. |

I'm pretty sure its more profitable negotiating country by country. Besides, the distributions coincide with his concert sales, if he's not touring worldwide it kinda defeats the purpose of what he's doing here. Change it one more time.. |

I can't understand why people are complaining how Prince is distributing his music. Since the world just honored MJ's 1 year anniversary of his passing. They're all full of shit at the end of the day, because if it was really all that doom-and-gloom in Princeland then they wouldn't still be here, replying to threads about his new releases.
It may be a while since he's created work that is truly worthy of his genius and I have to admit, I was fairly disillusioned during the Musicology/3121-era, but I defy any Prince fan not to find at least something to enjoy on his last few albums. |
