How 'bout doing a bit of research and looking into Prince's previous collaborations and how they "worked". (Hint: they didn't.)

Wow never heard of the Time, Vanity Six, The Family. I know all of these groups are not pop/rock bands the only music that matters to some of you but they were good projects and he has written songs for other artist that worked out to. Sheena Easton and working with Madonna on The Like A Pray cd.

Sometimes he had success sometimes he did not but it does not matter because he is not going to work with Drake.

Those were not collaborations.

Wow never heard of how Prince works with a protege group? The Time, Vanity 6, The Family - none of those were collaborations. When Prince tells someone "sing it like I did", that's not a collaboration. That's work for hire (ironically the same thing he bitched that WB was treating him like, just a few years ago).

Writing a song for another artist, and giving it to them, isn't a collaboration either. It's a work for hire, or a loan.

His girlfriend dueting on a song is a bit of a collaboration, but it's still a Prince production, so with or without her, it's still all him.

The Madonna duet sucked, and is a sore thumb on that album, which is otherwise brilliant from front to back.

Overall, his collaborations have not worked well, esp for the other artist. He buries people in the mix, then claims some big studio session with them. You can barely hear Sheryl Crow or Gwen Stefani in those songs, and they were good enough to truly make it a duet, and put it on radio. The only reason Eve or Chuck D are heard is because they're rappers, and you can't really bury that in the mix. When you're selfish, and want to be the focus, instead of sharing the spotlight for 4:30 minutes, the idea of "collaboration" goes right out the window.

eek HEEEEELL NO.

nononononononononono. Uh uh, not happening, they will have to shoot somebody in the food to make it happen. mad I tried listening to Drake. I mean really. He doesn't rap. He doesn't sing. He just...talks.

Let Prince do something with GaGa. Let him teach Bey a thing or two and do something with her. But Drake? That would be a tragedy. Might as well bring Nicki Minaj in there too.'

barf

1. Somebody shoot my food up, it's gon' be some furniture movin'! wink 2. Lady Caca is one album away from "fad" status herself, so no on that one. 3. Bouncy is prolly his best option for a younger collabo.

lol LOL I got so excited that I typed FOOD!! LAWD! eek I dunno why I said GaGa...that woman is sorta growing on me.....@_@ Moment of fog...forgiveness!!

I forgot a few. I'd love to see him with Chrisette Michelle or Sade. drool The Sade and Prince collab is like....so overdone in the minds of fans, but it's been a musical fantasy of mine for a long time.

LOL ok I gotta laugh again for that bad typo. Shootin the food!! lol

Hmmm Never say never though. The connection/influence could happen in some kind of way.......down the line. The poor lad most likely just doesn't recognize;-) (can't totally blame him in the generation he's in) But if he don't know he bedda ask somebody......like maybe his UNCLE! wink

ps. never knew that he was related to L.G.. The things you can glean from this sight is a trip. With a whole lot of filtration it can get interesting.cool

It's THAN, not THEN. THAN is a comparison, THEN is about a time frame.

Your statement is invalid, because Prince doesn't want to be a rapper. He uses rap in his music, he doesn't build his career on it.

But on that not, Drake wants to be something he'll never be - ANY GOOD.

Collaborations, projects, songs he wrote for other people it really does not matter. Prince has had success working with other artist. You can explain anyway that you want and I can explain it the way I want. I like the Madonna duet and so do a lots of other people on this board. In addtion, we know from Madonna that P had a lot input into that whole CD.( which would make it a collaboration) Now I think your mom is calling you for dinner and after that you and Bart can call each other and discuss how you have no life outside of Prince.org.

Dang. lol

I keep hearing two different reviews of Drake's album:

1) It's great.

2) It's lame (overrated).

I always like to make my own judgments, but in this guy's case, I'm just really not interested. bored
