Hmmmm....It's not his music...it's his respect for the fans that needs to be "fixed."

I see no difference between altering a song and skipping the song. Both are a personal choice and based on the listeners critique and evaluation.
I skip lots of Prince songs on his albums. Why? Because I don't like a lot of them. Ernest is doing what I hadn't thought of and changing the songs to create a more enjoyable experience of that song for himself. Common sense when you think of it. But the trouble with common sense is that it is not all that common. As for changing anything? Well I really don't think it works when he changes the chorus of All the Critics... to suit the city he's currently in. Nor do I think he should have sung "You don't have to watch Big Brother...". Both examples failed to impress me due to their cheapness and lack of humour. | |

Both examples failed to impress me due to their cheapness and lack of humour. Miles Davis got criticized for changing his own music in concert (in fact so does Prince) and his response was "that's what the records are for." I totally agree with this. Even changing a recording as you're describing is not changing the master. The new master for 1999 did no harm to the old one. Actually recording over original recordings of a classic is a different story, but that's not going to happen any time soon. My Legacy
