I see now I said "everyone" had their money back. My apologies, I meant "some" were already reporting the refund. But the email from support was that they were working on it straight away. Some people's will take longer than others I suppose because of different companies.

But that doesn't seem to be the point they're making. Xxaxx seems to be saying that she understands why people who canceled their memberships are pissed, but not the others who didn't. I understand the "glitch" they say they had (although I still find it monumentally stupid they allowed it to happen, it's a separate issue). Simply put, I'm just asking why only those who wrote in to cancel should be mad at this mistake, when everybody was affected by the fact that there was no year two.

The website is gone and that's pissing off the people that were pissed with the website for the year it was up. Now they're going to be pissed at the black screen until the next website which they'll sign up for. Then they can start the miserable cycle of their Prince bashing lives over again. You're doing a good job bashing people in your own right. Perhaps from your point of view, maybe it isn't bashing, maybe you would like them to change, maybe you expect better from people you know are capable of better.

No, but I work in business and if you've read my previous posts you'll know why I said it. A similar thing happened recently to a company with over 2 million clients, many of whom were overcharged for a few months even after receiving apology letters of previous incorrect charges. Internally, all business units had supposedly tied up all lose ends but the IT systems generated automatically and bang, there you go, incorrect billing again. It happens.

I wanted the site to deliver even one-tenth of what it promised.

So you were perfectly happy with the site but you just wanted it to end anyway? You didn't even join last March; you paid $77 for a truncated membership of a few months' length. Come on.

I don't believe the majority of fans wanted the site to just end. They wanted to get their money's worth.

No I didn't want it to end. But, was prepared for it to happen re:clause and org feedback. Either way it doesn't make/break my day.

Previously deleted threads on LF forum had decent financial break downs vs value. I'm not going into that all again. It's pointless arguing with anyone who feels they've been robbed, when they themselves knew they were making a risky investment but don't want to see their part in it and carry any risk of their own.

It was 77 dollars, come on. And for people who would be brought close to overdraft to join, it was not a wise investment with the previous knowledge, so many claim to have.

And by the way at Vegas and Stock market the aim is to MAKE MONEY.
The aim at LF was to enjoy videos and music. No comparison.
Whatever you buy it's a investment, mini or max.

Show me another musician who charged more and delivered less.

The money is not as important to me as the principle of the matter. I blow far more than $77 when I'm out for a night out with friends. However, I'm annoyed at the continued thievery of Prince and the justifications made by some to support it. To me, it's a further example of his inability to cut it as an artist. He can't even compare to Madonna, for god's sake. That's pathetic.

The problem is that misses the larger picture. This latest development is only one thing, but it is the culmination of many things over many years that have served to drive an unnecessary wedge between Prince and his fanbase. The entire yearlong debacle of the lotusflow3r website isn't even the entire thing. It keeps going back.

Nearly every time Prince has the opportunity to directly do business with fans, there is some hitch and it is unnecessary and unfortunate. There are competent people available but it seems Prince has the unfortunate talent to pick the exact opposite of them.

So before you dismiss this as "oh, big deal you got a refund", think about this. We knew for MONTHS that this was going to happen. Why? Because we were dealing with Prince and the people he hired to represent him on the web. We had experienced his ventures up to this point. We had dealt with the confusing and glitched launch of the site. We watched as people did not receive their shirts, and then as customer service went away, first by phone, then by e-mail.

We watched all this happen and we warned people because we KNEW the people running the show could not be trusted to do the right thing. We KNEW their terms and conditions called for auto renew. So, we followed the rules set up by the site to cancel and IT STILL HAPPENED. Then we get a statement blaming the billing company when we all KNEW that the site was setup to auto renew. Now a few people have been refunded, but not all and I have to believe that there will be people that don't get a refund and certainly there will be some with debit cards that incur overdraft fees and have to fight for those as well.

So, I think many people may have expressed their anger in ways that were counterproductive, they still have a right to their anger and to dismiss it as one small thing or another is fairly shortsighted. It is proven time and time again the Prince rarely responds UNLESS something like this happens, so I am glad that there was some press, but unfortunately the "press" ( a blog) chose to focus solely on the most negative.

I'm not going to do your homework. You show me the list. I guarantee any artist you put on there I don't like anyway. I haven't been into Madonna for years as I find her too commercial. Why would he want to compare to her or anyone anyway? I think Prince concert tickets are very reasonable priced,I'll say that.

I wasn't here in March last year, I joined in Aug. What I gather is that form the start, there were massive complaints about the LF loading etc but most probably also content. I've been here enough to see what people complain about. The wants and desires are endless.


I give away price of LF was very lucky for those who lived in the US. I think LF site was average not excellent but not bad. For the most here, it's always got to be More More More/ Better Better Better. If people reacted on a lower volume I would sympathise with them more. But many are too wrapped up in themselves, make harsh judgements and I'll say it again, join a site when they either don't really have the money/And/or without reading the terms and conditions which were PURELY in Prince's favour /AND with previous knowledge of things not being the way they wanted, go ahead, do it anyway and they complain.

You're annoyed because I don't support the "angry" crowd, thinking I automatically support Prince instead. But my reaction is more concerned with everyone involved in this thing and not just myself, you guys or Prince. Plus don't see Prince's dealing as anywhere near theft at all. Come on!

I see people bombarded daily by commercial propoganda with endless pschyo babble of what value for money, half the price,double the size, triple the quantity, a product is and how the media tells us we're so important that things are developed/made/sold JUST FOR US. I think this is what raises peoples' expectations and demands out of proportion.

I truely believe Prince cares for his fans but I just don't think he is emotionally equipped to show that or that he should show that in giving in to their every whim and demand which list seems endless. He tries to give his fans, think of all the music he's produced, the concepts, but these get trashed beyond recognition and I am quite sure it hurts him.

You all put Prince up on this pedestal thinking he's not human and doesn't have feelings. I disagree. I am passionate about my own little projects and when they go wrong, or are not as successful as I would like, I'm devastated. How would you feel? And please don't say , "Oh I would have done this/that etc etc." just how would you feel if the people you think support you trash you continually?


Prince is not involved in commerical hype at all. You want Prince stuff you have to search, it's not thrown in your face. I like that. I am prepared to pay more for it. He wants to disappear off line fine. He doesn't want to sell his dvds fine. As a fan, I believe I am here because I support him. If I didn't, I would not be here.dot.com.

The entire yearlong debacle of the lotusflow3r website isn't even the entire thing. It keeps going back.

Nearly every time Prince has the opportunity to directly do business with fans, there is some hitch and it is unnecessary and unfortunate. There are competent people available but it seems Prince has the unfortunate talent to pick the exact opposite of them.

So before you dismiss this as "oh, big deal you got a refund", think about this. We knew for MONTHS that this was going to happen. Why? Because we were dealing with Prince and the people he hired to represent him on the web. We had experienced his ventures up to this point. We had dealt with the confusing and glitched launch of the site. We watched as people did not receive their shirts, and then as customer service went away, first by phone, then by e-mail.

We watched all this happen and we warned people because we KNEW the people running the show could not be trusted to do the right thing. We KNEW their terms and conditions called for auto renew. So, we followed the rules set up by the site to cancel and IT STILL HAPPENED. Then we get a statement blaming the billing company when we all KNEW that the site was setup to auto renew. Now a few people have been refunded, but not all and I have to believe that there will be people that don't get a refund and certainly there will be some with debit cards that incur overdraft fees and have to fight for those as well.

So, I think many people may have expressed their anger in ways that were counterproductive, they still have a right to their anger and to dismiss it as one small thing or another is fairly shortsighted. It is proven time and time again the Prince rarely responds UNLESS something like this happens, so I am glad that there was some press, but unfortunately the "press" ( a blog) chose to focus solely on the most negative.


I agree with this post and unless Prince can get with people who can perform up to the maximum industry standards with customer service then he needs to cease any form of direct fan interactions i.e. the internet.

The problem is not with people's feelings with the blog mentioned it's with the hate period.

People like yourself know that it's going to be some bullshit with Prince. So you don't fuck with him and these internet sites. You told folks one way or another not to be suckered into a trap.

The bitching and moaning was expected regardless to what happened.

If the site continued and people were charged it's going to be bullshit.
If the site continued and people were not charged it's going to be bullshit.
If Prince put a live show on the site it's going to be bullshit.

The only way for it to not be bullshit with many on this site is if Prince passed on or if he retired and stopped making music.

This is not a Prince.org problem this is an internet problem because it's a lot of negative energy flowing on every type of website that I visit.
